thus begins the deathcore thread. related subgenres (eg metalcore, hardcore) welcome.
to start it off, this breakdown (timestamped video) is one i consider to be a standard breakdown, a great example for those unfamiliar, if you will:
much more gloriously is the Breakdown of the Day (BotD), which is associated with the following lyrics that amp me the heck up: "If you hurt the weak, you just became an enemy to me." A lil' new Impending Doom:
Use this thread for whatever. eventually id like to get a list going of best Christian deathcore albums of all time and keep a list going of current Christian deathcore bands (that dont suck). also i ~will~ be posting breakdowns of the day -- you could call it making up for the lack of demand with a little extra supply

On the topic of deathcore, A Body Divided replied to my inquiry regarding their unfinished Star Wars EP.
“There were some demos, but nothing set in stone. Repercussions of order was written about Jacen Solo otherwise known as Darth Caedus. The other working tracks were Vader- reactive conception which is a nod to his conception from medichlorions in the novel Plagueus when Plageuis and his then apprentice Palpatine let their presence be known in the force; thus causing the conception of Anakin as a means to counterbalance. Revan- Eternal Guardian was about how Revan continued to protect the universe via influential forces while in a coma in his latter days. Bane- dawn of an era was about Bane defining and enforcing the rule of two in order to strengthen the power of the Sith. All my concepts were based of official Lucas film novels before Disney came along and “redefined” cannon.”

After working with the Christian Deathcore page on Facebook I have a fair amount of good stuff to share on here. I'll try to get around to posting it this week.

does anyone else do either of the following: during a tasty breakdown: make a face like you smelled a skunk the count before a tasty breakdown: cock your head to the side and back

I found this the other day: Life Eternal - 2019 E.P.The tags on Bandcamp imply they're death/black, but I would describe it more as like melodeath/metalcore or something. Sounds pretty great, anyway!

I didn't agree with all his points but I found this fascinating. If you end up taking a look, please share any thoughts you may have.

I ~finally~ found a download of the In The Midst Of Lions demo. Oh my goodness it is as glorious as I had hoped. I don't know them, but I decided to look up this demo out of curiosity. ........... I can't find anything about a demo, just three albums. Can you tell me a bit more about it? (It's possible we stumbled upon the same webpage because the webpage on which I found the demo did not include their third (and final) album, Shadows, in their list.) So I guess In The Midst Of Lions discography is 1. Out of Darkness (2009) 2. The Heart of Man (2010) 3. Shadows (2011) While I enjoy their entire discography, I do prefer the LPs in the order in which they were released. The demo is five songs, the first two of which are on their first release (though a bit different, as demos are) and the latter three are unique to the demo; of these three (and of these three, I knew two from youtube). Here's the track titles, just for funsies: 1. Herod's Demise 2. He Is Risen 3. Behold He Comes 4. Replacement 5. The Choice The demo is pretty similar to the writing of their first release, Out of Darkness. Ummmmmmmm, I'm not too good at describing music. I listened to the demo through again with an ear towards how I could describe it here, but, eh, I still got nothing. It's messy (as demos are, I suppose) and the sound is heavy; they are breakdown-centric, but not to the point of screwing with the song structure/flow and they indeed have the talent (e.g., lead guitar) to make the whole song interesting.

I can't find a link to share the Earth Groan's song 'By Faith'. which has a T A S T Y off-tempo breakdown, so instead I'll recommend 'The Great Divorce' by Sleeping Giant. I used to think it would be fun if a breakdown involved a cymbal that sounded like glass breaking and oh me oh my that Sleeping Giant song breakdown starts with such a sound. (Also I'd like this thread to become organized by subgenre and Christian/secular with a first post that gets continually updated like Unblack Around the World but I probably won't start/maintain that for a while/ever.)

I like how the dude without long hair still swings his head around as if he did! _ what is your favorite ITMoL track? My is "Prepare the Way." Don't listen to them a ton, but I do like that one.

Prepare The Way is great -- good call. They have great music and great lyrics. My most played ITMOL songs are probably Herod's Demise and He Is Risen. I really enjoy Manifesto -- "Dear God, I am declaring myself as an instrument *staccato low notes* to be used iiin Youuur Wooorld." "Pull me up from this ugly mess; do not let me falter." Somewhere on the interwebs there is a video of high school me screaming 'Reborn' in polar bear pajama pants and a tie-dye shirt. The Levi The Poet tracks on their second album are cool too: I like how the guitar cuts when Levi says "[i'll be patiently waiting for you to call on My name] when you try to find your own way home" and then they have a little breakdown in " Abandonment". Oh my goodness, I feel like I want to comment on nearly each of their tracks. They're so good. Edit: ''Replacement," the first song in the live video a few posts above, is one of my favorite too. For some reason the non-live youtube video I swear I watched years ago is no longer up. Before the heaviest breakdown of the song are the lyrics ''Broken, battered, bruised, and bloody. Take My hand, child, this is not your end," which I really like.

Don´t listen to a lot of deathcore besides ID, Separatist and a few others..but I do appreciate a good breakdown.
Here´s something I´ve been obssesed with lately, probably because I saw them live 2 days ago. Might not be a "classical" breatkdown, but gets me banging everytime

Quick history of my venture into heavy music: Linkin Park suggested by a cousin (and bless my Mom for letting us listen to it in the car together), Thursday (specifically the *heavy quotes here* "breakdown" in 'Division St.' he let me listen to on his CD walkman on the bus) and Finch from a friend, A7x (as it were) etched into a bunch of notebooks in late middle school, then into metalcore with secondly For Today and firstly ' I don't wanna say this but I gotta, [they're] The Devil Wears Prada' (n.b., chili cheese enchilada).

Really been feeling this song by The Ghost Inside. Breakdowns are tight. The ending is fun for my depression: "It's in my head, on my mind. It's in my fucking head. Like a disease, I can't shake. Repeat."

Favorite Impending Doom album? Haven´t listened to them in a while, but I´ll go with "The Serpent Servant". Might change in the future because I haven´t really gave much attention to what they´re making now. Will have to change that when I´m in a deathcore mood. Yours?
