"Division in the church, is worse than war." ~ Constantine at The First Council of Nicea I agree with that quote, but I generally find "division in the church" to be difficult to talk about. The Bible is clear that we need to try to get along together, but the Bible is also clear that there are lines we need to draw. "Do not even each with such a one", etc. But it seems like people just pick one extreme and stick to it (welcome EVERYBODY, or exclude EVERYBODY) instead of trying to figure out where the lines should be drawn. Edit: We're on a new page, so I added the post I was replying to, for reference.

The Bible is clear that we need to try to get along together, but the Bible is also clear that there are lines we need to draw. When I think of division, I don't think of where to draw lines. Of course there are "hard stops" in Christian religion itself regarding what's acceptable and what's not..... When I think of division, I DO think of - what are the actions of division being done when a line is drawn? Does the person who's wrong get: - punched in the face - yelled at - harassed (file this under not letting it go - ever) - argued with - threatened - told to leave the gathering - ignored - slandered behind their back or gossiped about All of the above, in my opinion, I would consider to be "bad form", and hitting the nail of what Constantine stated, right on the head.

Also true. Unnecessary hostility seems to be a favorite among modern Christians.
................ Not to say at all that I myself have a perfectly level head, but, you know.

Unnecessary hostility seems to be a favorite among modern Christians. I think there's a time and a place for SOME hostility, depending on the situation, but modern Christians being excessive with hostility, is definitely a problem. Not to say at all that I myself have a perfectly level head, but, you know. Same here bro. Same here. What I would do in a "line drawn" situation, and I actually experienced this about 18 months ago. Some friends of mine now claim their religion as Aramaic Forgiveness.... I don't know all the ins and outs of it, but what obviously stood out was they see Jesus Christ as "just a good dude", not the savior to all mankind. Obviously that contradicts what's written prominently in the Bible. Obviously, that would be a "hard stop" for all Christians. I briefly explained how that's not correct. They did not want to argue - so I didn't press it. We went our separate ways. What would have arguing / pushing the issue done about it? We would have went our separate ways with them a bad taste in their mouth....

"The fact that religions through the ages have spoken in images, parables, and paradoxes means simply that there are no other ways of grasping the reality to which they refer. But that does not mean that it is not a genuine reality. And splitting this reality into an objective and a subjective side won’t get us very far." ~ Niels Bohr

I wouldn't say this is a favorite quote of mine but I cam across it recently and thought it was interesting enough to share.

I've said many times that we need a different word for [the medical/mental condition known as] depression. It's an entirely different thing from mere circumstantial sadness.

“Have you not done tormenting me with your accursed time! It's abominable! When! When!
