Hey guys maybe we can start doing this. Now that the end of the year draws nigh we can contemplate the albums we deem worthy of remembrance and honor. I know I haven't posted much at all since August or even April I think so this thread should give us all something to at least all posts once on here. I'll look through what I've listened to this year and bring a short list of good BM.

Now that the end of the year draws nigh we can contemplate the albums we deem worthy of remembrance and honor. All black metal regardless of lyrical themes? I'm all for that, rather than separating them out in secular vs Christian. Good is good, right?

Hence why I made this thread in the black metal folder and not the Christian black metal folder yes. Just black metal in general.

I´m not really someone who´s up-to-date with releases, somehow I always discover older albums that keep my attentition away from new stuff. But of the top of my head the new Outre album "Hollow Earth" and Kriegsmaschine´s "Apocalypticists are definietly on top of my list. I´d also mention Urfaust with "The Constellatory Practice", "Tetragrammaton" from Temple of Perdition, Panegyrist´s "Hierurgy" I´m sure I can´t remember a lot of them right now, but I´m sure you guys can help me out

No links because I’m at work and about 30 seconds from my break being over, but y’all are more than capable of finding these releases on YouTube to listen to until I have time to throw some links up:
Uada - Cult of a Dying Sun Kriegsmaschine - Apocalypticists Spectral Wound - Infernal Decadence 1914 - The Blind Leading the Blind
And of course, Immortal’s Northern Chaos Gods is my 2nd favorite release in ANY style of music thus far this year.....

My picks,
Varathron - Patriarchs of Evil (first secular band that sounds to me like Antestor Return of the Black Death v2.0 in certain places) Lucifer's Child - The Order (in many ways, out-Marduk'ed the new Marduk) Ultha - The Inextricable Wandering (old-Xasthur, eat your heart out) The Order of Apollyon - Moriah (its a death/black hybrid, but I think they out-Myrkskog'ed the band Myrkskog.)
If I had to pick one, it would be the Moriah album, but none of my picks this year hit me as hard as Der Weg Einer Freiheit's "Finisterre" album from 2017.

Sylvaine - Atoms Aligned, Coming Undone I like this album, but for me - not one of my top 2018 picks.

Arkhtinn released an album with an actual title? What?? When did this happen? Also, what makes this an album, and the other ones demos? This sounds almost identical to the previous Arkhtinn music I've heard. Not complaining by any stretch -- this is one of the few secular bands I can still really get into. I'm just a bit confused, lol

I think it is still a demo. But if it's not it might be because it is actually being on something other than tape: CD and vinyl

Is Arkhtinn from Japan? That album title translates to "First Disaster".
Good stuff, I like it.

No one knows, apparently. Looked through the update history on their Metal Archives page, no one's even vandalized that with any rumors/hoaxes. They were described by (one of their labels?) as being from "the north". The north of what, I don't know.

Wasn’t there a big controversy with Uada recently? Like NSBM allegations or something? I may be getting them confused with someone else, since every BM band is supposedly an NS band anymore.

Stems back to simply being booked by a promoter on a bill in 2016 that also had Fortresse and Graveland on it that was literally forced into cancellation by violent Antifa goons.......there’s no ACTUAL controversy, just a venue in Germany, where Uada were on tour a few weeks ago, that got their shorts in a knot because Uada didn’t denounce the politics of another couple bands in the aftermath of the cancelled 2016 gig.... www.metalsucks.net/2018/11/30/uada-show-canceled-following-allegations-of-nazi-affiliations-band-responds/amp/

I knew it had to do with antifa shutting down a show. I’m all about keeping Nazi’s out of the scene but when they’re shutting down shows that don’t have any NS affiliation it’s lame. I know Graveland used to have NS beliefs I don’t know if they still do, I don’t listen to them for that reason, but still. I know that antifa shut down a Taake show a few years back and a fest Disma was playing, which again, the singer used to involved in shady stuff but has supposedly changed his views. I have friends who play in a few Bestial Black Death bands in California and they’ve had shows shut down by antifa, which is ridiculous because all of the dudes are Mexican so they’re not even close to Nazis. I also remember antifa shutting down a Nyogthaeblisz show, that makes more sense to me considering they are super sketchy, though they never claimed NS I’ve heard lots of stuff about them, plus I saw them like 3 or 4 years ago and they all wear black KKK robes and their backdrop was a photo of a pile of dead bodies from the holocaust. I used to be a supporter of Antifa until they started this crap with all of these bands that aren’t even NS affiliated. It blows my mind that I saw Satanic Warmaster and Inquistion and there wasn’t a problem at all, but my friends go see Pseudogod (if I remember right) and they all got pepper sprayed.

because all of the dudes are Mexican so they’re not even close to Nazis You'd be surprised. There are a lot of NSBM bands among Hispanic people, considering the fact that nazism is against non-white people. I don't know about your specific friends, obviously, but just in general. Then again, maybe those people aren't actual nazis and are just using the imagery for shock value. I don't know. Nor do I care to ask, haha!

Idk where to put this post and I don't feel like making a new thread. I imagine this album would be on people's best BM of 2017 list, at any rate. Here's my review of Sarkrista - Summoners of the Serpents Wrath, which I heard yesterday: It was good. Also cool artwork.

Bandcamp user metalsoliloquy said it better than I could, “ if you don’t love me at my [Deafheaven - Ordinary Corrupt Human Love deafheavens.bandcamp.com/album/ordinary-corrupt-human-love] then you don’t deserve me at my [ Black Brick]”. This track was a b-side to OCHL, which is why I included it on the 2018 list. It’s killer tho.
