I have been listening to a lot of doom recently, so I figured I would make a thread for it.
Most of my recent listening has been more atmospheric black/death-doom and funeral doom, such as Illimitable Dolor, The Slow Death, and Usnea. There are really some figurative gems, such as Aeolian Winds, Arcana Coelestia, Forlet Sires, and Svartmálm in these genres.

OM is amazing - Advaitic Songs is what turned me on to them. The Sciences by Sleep is also a favorite. I'm way late to the drone party, but the new album by SunnO))), Life Metal, is pretty great. Haven't gotten into the first track much, but the rest of it is just awesome, IMO. Check out Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch and anything by Disembowelment.

Christian drone: - Flock of Crows- "On the Throne" and "En Kriger"^ For "En Kriger", my favorite album, by far, is "All Your Abominations". The other stuff is more experimental -- "All Your Abominations" is VERY slow, drudging music Christian stoner doom: - Dustt -- also does faster-paced stoner rock - Cult of Divine Mercy -- only this album. All other releases are noise Christian doom: - Evangelist- Forsaken- DoomenicusChristian goth/doom: - Anemia- Virgin Black- Wipe AwayChristian black/doom: - Exalted Saviour- Rotting Serpent -- "Manitou" is secular, all other albums are Christian - Heztael -- As far as I know, Heztael's releases are Christian, but since the project became inactive, the artist no longer identifies as Christian. Christian doom/death: - Hear O Israel -- VERY raw, underground 90s stuff - Antestor early stuff was doom/death - Docnargath- Abjathar- Breath of Life- Paramæcium- Serenade in Darkness- Ex-Hortation- Entorn- Sacrotorsus- Abomínio- The Abrasive Realization -- sludge / doom / death / ?!?! Christian funeral doom: - Faithless Minutes Devoured(Not a whole ton of Christian doom out there, but obviously, this post doesn't list every band out there)

fire indeed! Never heard of many of these bands, but will work my way through them. Already loving Cult of Divine Mercy, although I'm not sure what to think about the album cover. Flock of Crows is a cool find as well.

Is Atlantean Codex doom or something else?
Also, don't forget the mighty Pallbearer from my home state of Arkansas!

Btw I just want to mention quick, Crypt Sermon are not Christian. I think you, Ben, know this. But for some reason, I've seen several other people with this misconception that they're a Christian band. They're not -- they even have some blasphemous lyrics.

Crypt Sermon are not Christian. I think the fact that they did a song called "Key of Solomon" was a dead giveaway. Well, for anyone who knows about obscure medieval grimoires, anyway.

I really enjoy Pylon though their new album has been delayed well over a year now.

Oh my,
I have to catch up on a lot of stuff it seems. Haven't lately listened to much doom besides Ahab, as a matter of fact just recently I've ordered their upcoming live record.

Transcending Obscurity has many good doom bands on the roster. Transcending Obscurity has a lot of good bands period. I snapped up a bunch of their releases when they had a Name Your Price sale. And don't forget their Indian/Asian sublabel, which has some really good bands. My favorite thing about the label is that they put the genre of the band in the album title on Bandcamp. That way I know right off the bat if I want to give it a shot or not.

Are there any Christian bands that sound like Crypt Sermon? Would like some epic doom that isn't 45 minutes of esoteric gnosticism and anti-Christian blasphemy.

Are there more Christian bands that have that Southern stoner metal sound like Starchild's S/T or Down - NOLA (from the secular scene)? Mid-paced, heavy as all get out, perfect for driving with the windows down on a humid one-hundred degree day in the Southland kinda stuff.
