Hello,
It's been a long while since I have been active in the (christian) metal community. Around the early 00's I was "running" SneeuwStorm Produkties and I was active in some projects (Duister Maanlicht, Jordskaelv/Winterkou, Wapenveld etc). I gave the rights to Nokternal Hemizsphere when he contacted me and I lost touch with it for quite some years. In the meantime I played emo/poppunk, electropop and some R&B with the exception of some Duister Maanlicht recordings in 2010/2011 (which were only two days), until I was searching for some black metal on the internet and I came across the vinyl release of Antestor's "Kongsblod" and Frosthardr's album. With that I got interested in metal again (99% BM, other styles of metal don't interest me that much, unless it is metalcore which isn't metal imho) and at the moment I really enjoy the latest Flukt, Skald in Veum and Alcest releases.
Recently I bought a guitar and bass + amps so I started recording at home again (something I didn't do for the last three years). Duister Maanlicht exists for twenty years next month and I have two releases planned. "Hoerenzonen & Heksendochters" which was already recorded in 2010/2011 but never released (some tracks need vocals which are being added this/next month) and "Heidenhaat, de Komst der Plagen" which is a solorelease.
Track of "Hoerenzonen & Heksendochters"
Pre-demo (just guitar and drumtrack) of "Heidenhaat, de Komst der Plagen"
I once decided not to call Duister Maanlicht a christian band anymore since it's music and lyrics don't have the purpose to spread the Gospel and it only sporadically glorifies the Lord. And, of course, we never put that much effort in it in the past (pre-Over Ketters, Heksen & ander Gespuis) so it would be a shame to call it christian imho. I still hold the same point of view on this subject.
And of course it's lyrical content is often anti-pagan and focuses for example on behaviour of the christian state after it got mixed with politics so it takes a firm stance on heresy, heathens, witches etc. It is dark and glorifies the death of unbelievers which is of course not my personal point of view.
Other songs are about occultism, the suffering and death of christians and the cry for forgiveness and guidance of God so that part could definitely be described as christian metal. Anyway, Duister Maanlicht has it's roots in christian and anti-pagan metal so it will always be related to that scene.
Love reading around here and listening to some other underground stuff.

Welcome! You're the person I talked to in emails, right? "Anzorgheian"? Thanks! Yes, that is correct. Actually I made .wav files of the old, never released Winterkou release last week, I'll send them to you by wetransfer. Thank you Kaiheijinshu.

old, never released Winterkou Hallo from Germany! May it be impertinent to ask if that Winterkou could be available anywhere?

Thanks anfauglith and Borndead! grendel: Hallo Deutschland :-)! Well, you should ask nocturnaliridescence since he will record some vocals for it. After that it will be posted on bandcamp or something I guess. Maybe an old school SneeuwStorm Produkties release (it is 15-17 years old anyway) but I am quite tired with printing and cutting inlays lol. celestiial: I gave those rights away to NH and I guess he sold those rights to Unblack Metal Scene along with the rights of Evig Morke's "Under a Black Sky of Blasphemy" (which was heavily cut unfortunately). If someone could get those rights from one of them and someone wants to release a tape or something I am all for it. Personally I give priority to releasing new material if I am ever going the road of a physical copy again. Which I probably will, but I still have two boxes full with SneeuwStorm releases in the basement haha.

Was Arch of Thorns also on the label? Be cool to hear new Duister Maanlicht material! Shame about labels 'buying rights' to your property & not releasing artists from the contract, that's just bad sportsmanship imo. Here's to new adventures!

Arch of Thorns had two releases on SneeuwStorm. Borgazur, Evig Morke and Verdelger were all bands with Zwaardvader/Ilithrir. Well, I think NH is a way better label than SneeuwStorm ever was. I would definitely not manage it in the same way I managed it back then. I can come up with all kinds of excuses but I won't. I should have done better. In NH's defense, he always said that I could get back the rights if I wanted to. I just never asked him, haha. Back when I gave SneeuwStorm away I was really done with it. After 2006 I have moved away from metal, and it only really caught my interest around 18 months ago again. This is the new Duister Maanlicht track I already posted in another topic. To be honest, I already recorded another 7 new songs in the past 24 hours (except for the vocals) so that's already a new album on it's own when this one is not even finished (10 tracks finished, no vocals recorded yet except for this track) and released. The albums will be quite different ("Heidenhaat,..." will be midtempo while the today recorded "Over Zwarte Kunsten, Hekserij en Andere Dienaren van het Kwaad" will be raw and fast, basically a Darkthrone-ripoff tbh) so I won't mix things up, and seventeen tracks on a BM album makes no sense to me.

this all sounds excellent! Well me and a friend are putting together a cassette-only label, plus hopefully, an accompanying magazine too, so let us know if you ever need anything seriously cool grooves on the new tunes, nicely recorded!

Good evening!
I am Ton from the Netherlands, black metal is on of my favorite genres at the moment. I think i am more into the somewhat melodic stuff like Antestor/Grave Declaration etc. But i have to say Skald in Veum and Frosthardr for example a more straight forward and i really like both last albums.
I have been following this forum for a bit longer than today but have now decided to create an account. Maybe some people know me from the Christian metal realm forum or otherwise from Christian metal Horde, i manage that Instagram and Facebook page to share as much Christian metal as i can. In the past i have also organized some meetings with other Christian metalheads in the Netherlands. Maybe i will organise something like that in the future, when its safe hehe.
Heidendoder, thank you for reminding me to your projects, and great you are back. Welkom terug broeder!
I also would like to share a song, i only sung something. The music is not from me hehe, was a kind of fun project. But one song had a more serious character hehe

Well, I couldn't resist it, I already uploaded an song for that other and other upcoming album. No vocals, no lyrics. Not yet. I'm very happy to see when black metal sounds this way. I don't really want to consider myself a purist as far as the black metal sound, but I do have the opinion that when black metal is very clean and super produced, that the production takes some essence away from the music. Good job! I'm eager to hear more.

celestiial : Thanks! I could try and contact NH and see that I get the rights back again for that old Jordskaelv/Winterkou split for a tape release. progton777 : Dankje en welkom hier! @thomas Eversole: Thanks for your kind words! I do totally agree on that point. I have been recording some vocals this afternoon, try to get the other tracks done this week. This track is called "Vuilbekkerij van de Eerste Orde".

The recording for the album "Over Zwarte Kunsten..." was done in May. The mixing was somewhat problematic but in the end I am happy with the result. I expect it to be released this year but for now I am in the waiting zone.
In the meanwhile I am recording an indierock/dreampop album under the name Surrogate Lover and I released Duister Maanlicht's "Hoerenzonen & Heksendochters" on bandcamp today (physical release will follow).
Today I was working on the follow up for the 2020 Duister Maanlicht album (six tracks recorded already, absolutely happy with three tracks, not so much with the others...) and alongside that I made an attempt to make blackgaze or something that's at least inspired by shoegaze / dream pop and black metal. So basically it's just Surrogate Lover (which is heavily inspired by Hundredth, Turnover, Title Fight and 90's T&N bands) with Duister Maanlicht-metal riffs.

Seems as though you're a specialist in a few styles! Very cool. I like the Saor vibe halfway through.
