Seems DC is shelving Vials for a while to focus on a new project. While that's kind of a bummer because I love VoW so much, it will be interesting to see what he comes up with next. DC Mills interview

That's really surprising. Vials of Wrath is one of only like, 3 or 4 bands that most people in this scene listen to. It's one of those where you go to the Christian Black Metal group on Facebook and say like, "Can you recommend bands that sound like Skrillex or Justin Bieber?" and people don't know how to reply so they just say "ANTESTOR AND VIALS OF WRATH"

Interesting. I would say I'm disappointed, but honestly I feel blessed that we got so much quality material from VoW and DC must follow his inspiration.
Any info on this new venture that he is pursuing?

Also, someone on GFM's marketing team mentioning GFM on any recommendation thread. Also, the guy who spams his band on every post whether or not it's relevant.

I do not even understand why they try it on Christian black metal groups. I do not imagine it gains much traction in those groups. Also, are you referring to a specific person as the guy who spams his band, or just the type in general?

From the interview:
Man, I relate. I feel like I keep having this dialog with myself, which shares a similar sentiment.
"Should I even do an 8th Orationem album? I mean, its not like my albums sound much different from each other, and the 7th album was verbatim-scripture because the prayer-lyrics well was drained."
"Yeah, but someone just asked me the other day if there was another Orationem album coming out this year. I like it too and I'm interested in doing more."
"I also kind of want to switch gears though, using verbatim scripture and make some slam death metal, under a different project name. But slam isn't black metal, that's gotta HAVE non-lofi production."
"Well, I got the better PC, and I've got money saved just for a better studio setup. Better get on that."
"I know, I know. Well not today. I'm just going to play my piano some more while I figure out if the next thing I do is black metal or slam."

Ooooo this is the worst, some groups are notorious for this. So true, I think most musicians can relate to this. Funny enough sometimes you don´t even need a lot of time to recharge, but just a change of setting can spark the fire.

just the type in general? Just the type in general. There was some guy who spammed his punk band on every single recommendation thread for a while. I posted a thread asking for something weirdly specific and he posted his 90s skatepunk band on there. It was...OK, but not anything close to what I was looking for. Sorry if that was you. Or the guy from Graveside Service (AKA Skeleton Moobs) who keeps spamming his poorly designed meme/poster about his old band that was the "most evil and cursed music ever made." I'm very glad that he turned from darkness to light; I do not need to be reminded about the "world's most evil album that was only pressed on cassette" every time I visit a Christian metal page. GFM’s marketing is quite annoying. I do not even understand why they try it on Christian black metal groups. I don't remember seeing them on a specifically black metal groups, but I've seen them quite often on general Christian metal groups. Sometimes you'll have a page-long comment on a recommendation thread about them and realize it's the mom or dad of the bandmembers posting it. I like their music and they absolutely kill it live, but they are without a doubt the most heavily marketed and gimmicky band I have seen in the Christian scene. The Christian Babymetal. I will fight you if you talk smack about my favorite girls! 😤😜 Shots fired! Hahahaha.

That guy also posts in secular groups, replacing his claimed testimonial with things like “join the curse.” As far as the skate punk band, I am not certain I have seen him. I have seen a heavy/thrash project which a guy pushes on many threads, even when not relevant at all. Regarding GFM, I do not care too much for their music. It is not bad, just not my style. The excessive marketing in response to totally unrelated recommendation requests and/or other topics is what I dislike.

For the record, the GraveSideService guy (formerly Raypissed, now Rayzer) is a legit Christian. He has some "uncommon" beliefs but his devotion to Christ is sincere.

Was it Mak3shift or something like that? Regarding GFM, I do not care too much for their music. It is not bad, just not my style. The excessive marketing in response to totally unrelated recommendation requests and/or other topics is what I dislike. You're looking for a deathcore band? How about this BEAUTYcore band? In this essay, I will... To be totally fair, GFM is the most marketable band of all time. They're essentially the Christian version of Babymetal or Band-Maid, or maybe Burning Witches. In a genre where most of the musicians are schlubby dudes with beards wearing black t-shirts, cargo shorts, and black no-slip Wal-Mart sneakers (e.g. me), a trio of young girls wearing cheerleader costumes performing with a light show are going to sweep the competition away. If they had come out about 5-10 years earlier they would be headlining Warped Tour. And just to be clear, I don't have any beef with any of the people or bands I've mentioned. I don't question their faith at all. I just don't like their marketing tactics. In my personal experience, word-of-mouth "marketing" from other fans has been what has turned me on to bands the most. I'm immediately skeptical when a band is heavily marketed.

It makes sense. DC mentioned numerous times how much he had gone through over the course of the last few years. It probably felt like a release and then a heavy lull emotionally in the aftermath. Being the only member that's a heavy weight as well, giving 10 years to a project.
I'll say I was hoping for a quicker turn around perhaps, thinking the delay on release would have given time for writing. I guess it'll be the opposite.
