Thomas, should build up a LinkedIn profile. I recently started a LinkedIn and while im not looking for a job currently it is a good way to build a professional network. On my linkedin I'm constantly seeing recruiters posting job openings

Ah dang dude, I am sorry. That is frustrating and discouraging indeed. Sounds like there are still multiple opportunities on the horizon though. What's the $100k job? That sounds... lucrative! I didn't get it. Actually, I had an experience that was amazing, confusing and extremely disappointing regarding this job - something that I outlined here: www.yelp.com/biz/woods-basement-systems-inc-collinsville-5This whole job thing has me in a slowly sinking depression. I'm not currently experiencing suicide thoughts, para-suicidal thoughts, thoughts of returning to substance abuse or admitting myself into a mental hospital, but I can see their glow "on the horizon" in my mind. I've been thinking about employment and such too lately... Right now, I've got a good job where I don't have to commute far at all in an area I like (where I grew up and where my family and closest friends are). But the thing is, in Santa Cruz, there just aren't many opportunities for engineers and I'm getting paid severely less (roughly 1/2) of what I could be getting were I to move and/or commute somewhere less desirable. Right now I'm able to get by... but if I'm going to ever have a family, I wouldn't be able to support them well. And there is NO way I would EVER be able to buy a house in the area unless I win the lotto or something. Hmm... Grass is always greener on the other side I guess. I could probably not work for 8-12 months and still be afloat financially. I own my own home, yet I'm so desperate to even flip hamburgers or scrub toilets that I'm practically foaming at the mouth. Please hold on to your employment, no matter how overworked, underpaid and borderline postal you feel at it - because the feeling of not working for: 44 / 6 weeks and 2 days or 1,056 hours or 63,360 minutes or 3,801,600 seconds ...is much worse. If you can GUARANTEE something while you still have your job, all the better.

I showed up 20 minutes early to my second interview and the person that was supposed to interview me already left for the day. I'm seriously about to just give up on finding a job until after the wedding / honeymoon. All its doing is frustrating and pissing me off.

I had a good phone interview yesterday and a great in-person interview today. I really like this job and its another one that will (after a few years) pay a 6 figure salary.
My only hurdle is the criminal background thing. I was transparent/open about it because the recruiter (who would also be my boss) liked me and while this sort of thing doesn't matter to her, she wants to make sure it wouldn't interfere with the state licensing required for the job position.
Based on what she said, I will find out TODAY if this would be an issue or not. Please pray that I get this job!

Muh. I've kind of hijacked this thread and made it all about my job search when it started out with Blake's financial concern.
Blake, I hope your finances are doing better!

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Even though I haven't signed a contract yet, or heard those two magical words "You're hired", I was told several things verbally. 1) Who I've been interacting with for this position is the person who makes the decision as to who joins her team, and she will be my boss 2) She told me she likes my strengths and wants me to join her team
Also, and this part excites me the most, my criminal record IS NOT an issue with me getting licenced or hired. She told me she could care less what I did drunk almost 10 years ago, and absolute worse case scenario for the state licencing is I would have to write a letter of explanation.
The honeymoon is not a problem either and it sounds like I MIGHT be ready to jump into their training/testing when I get back! Also, they pay weekly and their numbers show I'll be making aproximately 60k my first year with them.
How awesome is that!?!??? I'm happier than a fat kid at Christmas right now. [candy]

[candy] I had my second interview with this company today. They had me do a "StrengthFinder" test, to which I tested strong in the areas they're looking for. They told me I would know no later than tomorrow if I've got the job or not. My overall reaction if I don't get the job is that they weren't honest with me regarding what they didn't like about me. (the input I received was very positive) Prayers please!

Not yet chief. My (temporary) license was approved so that hurdle is over with. The original plan was for me to hit the ground running when I came back from my honeymoon. Unfortunately, my direct report (the lady who was going to be my boss) bailed.
I've got a new boss now, but there's a few more things that I've got to do before training. Getting business cards created is one. I'm hoping early September, I'll be getting into the swing of things. ___________________________
Sounds like a good time to work on some music right? I've tried and I just can't pull myself to it. No plans for another full length album this year, as I've already done one for Ankou Awaits and Orationem... but I had an idea for Dramatic Drill Reincarnation, just haven't implemented it yet.
I literally have another EverSoul song done in my head - just can't pull myself to play/record it.
...so I won't force it.

Oh cool! I just got an e-mail later tonight (like almost 9pm!) from my boss who stated that they think they've got it squared away for me to start training this Tuesday, and would like to go over the "opener guide" Monday, so I'll have some knowledge before I train.
That's good news! It felt good to get hired, but seriously, I'm ready to start working.

Well, I've been working all week, put in almost 40 hours (didn't do much Monday, my first day). I like the job, even though I seriously got a red flag about my position yesterday.
...but scheduling appointments with people is what I need to do - if they say "yes" in the presentation, that's money in my pocket, and I've got a presentation scheduled Monday afternoon.
Glad for the 3 day weekend though - I've been off work so I'm a little more tired than I would be if I'm used to working again!
