Ok so I can't understand this. I have a facebook friend who practically Worships the Knights Templars. He professes Christ but wants to join a templar order, which is funny as the knights templar were disbanded in the 14th century. Despite the evidence showing ties to Free Masons and despite the historical fact of corruption among the order and of course there is the fact that the church turned against them and went to kill them for heresy. Not to mention there is historical evidence to tie them to hooking up and joining the Vikings and even arriving here in the state WITH the vikings before Columbus did. So with all those facts WHY would a Christian want to be associated with such a secret order from the 13th and 14th century?
What are your thoughts about the knights templar? Am I completely way off base? Is all of the historical facts about them a lie? Or am I right and this kid is trying to worship Christ AND a secret order?

I don't think him wanting to join the knight's templars probably has much weight to his faith. He probably just sees it as "leet" and "uber".
Why he thinks that's prestigious makes about as much sense as why I think having a 5+ foot greatsword hanging in my living room is prestigious. Everyone's different.
When my wife's grandfather died in March, he was a Free Mason, and they did a Masonic Rights at his funeral. Do I think the old men with canes and the fat redneck 20 yo something's were in on the Mason's behind-the-scenes "hail Satan" gig? No. Its just boy scouts for old men, that many people find it prestigious to join, so they join.
...and by the way, I studied those masonic rights closely when they were being read during that ceremony, and there was nothing remotely questionable about them and they spoke of God by name. I don't doubt there's some wolves in sheep's clothing in the FreeMason's, just like with any club.
...but I seriously SERIOUSLY doubt my wife's grandfather was hailing evil behind closed doors.

I love the idea of the Templars, but as with everything in our world, the order got corrupted. But I think the imagery stands for the idealized order and not the real historical one. 5+ foot greatsword hanging in my living room is prestigious. What kind of sword is it? I´m thinking about getting an stylized axe to hang over my monitor

I feel like the Knights Templar thing is more larping than anything else, although I would be worried that it might tie into some kind of "Christian" white power thing. Not that deleted member cares. On a related note, did y'all know that the lead singer of Eternal Champion is a blacksmith and sells his creations online? I think he's crafted his own sword which he holds onstage. That is the most metal thing ever.

What kind of sword is it? An "antiqued lowlander greatsword". Apparently the same model of "slaughter swords" used centuries ago, intended to take out the horse and its rider in battle. (yes, its battle ready) On a related note, did y'all know that the lead singer of Eternal Champion is a blacksmith and sells his creations online? I think he's crafted his own sword which he holds onstage. That is the most metal thing ever. Now blacksmith is the most alpha job you can have You bros seen that show "Forged in Fire"? Pretty neat to watch these blacksmiths compete - and their weapons are put to the test. One of the most incredible moments on TV IMO, was one episode, where they sent these two blacksmiths back to their home-forges, to make a battle axe. The dude with like decades of smithing experience, with a garage that has a dozen high tech machines made a good axe. But the other dude made an even better battle axe. He had less experience, and his home forge was a hair dryer and a satellite dish full of hot coals plus an anvil.
