I had my Torches in the Void - Bones cassette blaring today while moving around totes of Christmas decorations that my wife will be putting up this week.
You make mighty fine old-and-cold sounds there Kai!

Thanks Tom! Was trying to get that "necro" sound for the album.

Oh yeah. I love that sound. Dig that dirty dark production too.
I was listening to Keep of Kalessin - Epistemology today. The drums bother me a little on this release, because their EQ/mix. I love the structure of them though.
Also, some of the best clean vocals in black metal IMO.

Will check it out. Haven't listened to Keep of Kalessin since the 90s, haha.

Do you like dark ambient or drone? I know several projects / albums that fit that criteria in those styles. I'm listening to one of those albums now, though it's closer to noise - Frostnoise - Noisethrone

I like dark ambient from time to time, but it has to have enough going on to keep me interested. If it's too simplistic, I don't like it. Sabled Sun is my favorite that I've found: cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/2146Haven't found any drone that I really like yet. Generally, when I'm looking for something that's non-aggressive, I still want guitars in it. That's why I like slower black metal sometimes.

That Order of Melchizedek stuff is pretty nice. I've heard some of his stuff before this but I don't remember it sounding like this.
I liked the ambient parts of Betheos Abshalom but the BM seemed sub-par.
Determining the Absent was really interesting but I feel like it would give me a headache after a while.
Flock of Crows didn't really captivate me. I don't really know how to explain why.

I was able to give Baroness's new album "Purple" a few listens. Anyone else like it?

It really is amazing. Every time I listen to it, I'm more impressed than I was before. It changes tempo so often, going from fast, chaotic bits to slower, doomy sections. And then you have the sheer complexity of the music. There are times where there seem to be 5+ guitar parts going on at the same time. It's produced well enough that you can dig through it all and look for each individual piece. It's really entrancing too, especially because of the droning nature of the guitars in the slower sections along with some of the ambience that's used.
I might have to do a review on this.

Chain of Strength - The One Thing That Still Holds True
I've been listening to it on YouTube because it hasn't come in the mail yet. I absolutely love this album. It's exactly what I'm looking for in hardcore. I didn't think I'd find meaningful lyrics from a non-Christian band, but I really like their lyrics, even if there is a decent bit of profanity.

Atmospheres 第1 by Eco Virtual - No honest idea if this is a Christian artist, but I don't feel convicted by this album. I already know the song "Nimbostratus" on this and finally decided to listen to the rest tonight. I kind of want to make a Christian vaporwave album someday, but I'd need to study the genre more. And probably at least download FL Studio again.

"In the darkness of yours thoughts You forget to find out who you are Hearts are frozen, not knowing the King In the garden there's a sun that warms" Its ok, but not really my thing. I wish there was a Christian band that sounded like this. I'd fall in love.
