Cryptic Rising - Oldwound (depressive black metal) Cryptic Rising's discography is... odd. He's gone through so many different musical styles and ideas. But at the same time, almost EVERY time he tackles some strange genre, he does it PERFECTLY.

Trust Your Heart - Beowulf - A Tale from the North Trust Your Heart - Siegfried Appalachian Leprosy - Mountains Erode into the Sky
I wanted to listen to more, but didn't get around to it today.
I also got the opportunity to listen to an upcoming single from (a certain band), that hasn't officially been released yet. I REALLY WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT but I can't yet. I'll just say -- if you guys like lo-fi stuff, you're in for a treat later this year!!

I went to an Electronic & Industrial concert last night: while I was waiting, a couple of people behind were talking about Sabaton, and their new album came out earlier.

American Football - s/t (LP1) Hm... I'm curious, but not curious enough to try to Google a band called "American Football". Have a link? Lawlz. They have three LPS, all self-titled, the first one coming out in 1999, then the second and third in 2016 and 2019. Never Meant is a classic song off the first album and it is the quintessential nostalgia song in my opinion.

Anyway, I like this song! I don't really listen to a lot of music in this style (not even sure what it's called actually), but this is definitely some of the better stuff I've heard in the style

I don't really listen to a lot of music in this style (not even sure what it's called actually), but this is definitely some of the better stuff I've heard in the style American Football would be the quintessential Midwest emo band. Midwest emo or "real emo" is usually characterized by jangly, sometimes arpeggiated guitar parts (usually played on a telecaster), nasally vocals, lyrics that are about emotional subjects (usually some girl/guy who won't date you), and a DIY ethic. It's kind of raw, but not as heavy or aggressive as punk. I like a lot of this stuff. American Football is the top band for the softer end of emo; the more rockish end would be a band like Joyce Manor or maybe Cap'n Jazz. There's also "real screamo," which gets grouped in with emo but to me feels a lot different.

Cap'n Jazz is great, and they have a great song to help listeners learn the alphabet, I am sure it is played in kindergartens across the country.
