I'd say the EP isn't as good as the album but it's still worth getting.

How badly should I get the first Stronghold EP? Prayers from a Yearning Heart. I own Cult of Remorse and like it a lot. Suggestions? I'd say the EP isn't as good as the album but it's still worth getting. Ooh I actually might like the EP a little more! But yeah, both are very good for sure. If you really enjoy the full-length then you'll definitely like the EP. I think it's still relatively easy to get. They had their demo available to download for free on their website. Not sure if it's still up though. It's ok but very rough. There's one song on it that's not on either EP or full-length though. I'm sure you could find it online somewhere or if not, I don't imagine the band would mind if I sent you the songs since they had it up for free for some time. Let me know.

Listening to this album that was apparently just released today. I have no idea what the lyrics are about, but I like the sound so far! "Unknown" by Unnamed.

Today on my drives to and from work, I'm listening to Dream Theater - The Astonishing. I feel like my last listen through wasn't thorough enough.
I also recently got to hear a few songs from the Claypool Lennon Delirium - Monolith Of Phobos. Sounds pretty much as weird as I expected it to be, but I like it nonetheless!

I've been listening to a lot of Abandon lately (80's influenced pop/rock), specifically the album Control. I still can't decide if I like it better than the newer Love Prevails album. I have their EP coming in the mail soon too--pretty stoked!

Pÿlon - Empyrean Rose (just the Pÿlon part)
Quite excited about the new album. Couldn't have much interest in the last one. I think the vocals of the guy from Nomad Son don't fit Pÿlon at all.

Pÿlon - Empyrean Rose (just the Pÿlon part) I was listening to just the My Silent Wake part this morning. The MSW material on that split is >>> better than the Pylon IMO... I actually "unchecked" the Pylon songs from my iTunes haha.

I like 2 of the 6 Pÿlon songs. By Loving Forces and Droid. Can't care for the others much. Falling in the Sun is quite OK though. The My Silent Wake songs is the same story. Their short little acoustic weird intro's don't do it for me. But Tearing Worlds Apart and NDE Part 2 are great songs though. Actually I think Droid is very good Candlesmass cover. Even better than the original...

Was listening to Wrench In The Works' last album, Increase/Decrease, yesterday. It sucks that they were only a two-album band, as I think their two albums were some of the best music to come out of Facedown Recs.

I had never heard of this band before; I just looked them up and they're great! My recent listens: Drottnar - Stratum The Slave Eye - Black Rust

^I really like that Black Rust EP and cannot wait for more!
I've been listening to Iron Maiden's Best Of The B'Sides while driving around. It's got some great songs but also a couple really terrible ones... Overall still worth it though!

Personally I can take them even though I logically shouldn't, but I can still see what you mean. I don't think the vocals are too bad when they're just doing basic stuff. But in, say, "I'll Fly Away", the one with the full lyrics, there are too many voices, singing too quickly, and they don't harmonize well. I think part of the problem is also the mic quality.
I might do a full review of that "album" at some point. I do reviews, just not often at all.
