I know there's some musicians here. Post a video of yourself playing a riff you wrote or your mad drumming skills! I'd love to see some keys if anyone plays keys here. Vocals are welcome to if I can here that its you. (Don't "cover" it up, no pun intended)
If you want to, rate yourself and others on a scale of 0 being "uh, wut?" to 5 being "You da mane!" based on: - Performance (how well you played) - Quality (how good the video looks and sounds) - Presentation (is it visually appealing in your opinion?) ________________
Here's a sample from me. Trying out the video camera on my laptop on a whim. ....and it sucks.
I tried to clean up the sound because the drums overloaded the laptop mic as well. I have mixed feelings about the framerate. Its bad because its not high enough, kinda cool that when I blast though, it doesn't look like I'm moving.
Meh. I need to try again during the day and use an instrument mic.
Still, I kinda like how raw it is though...
====- Performance ==--- Quality ===-- Presentation

I plan on filming something relatively soon here. I'm coming off a wrist surgery which has completely robbed my left hand of stamina and discipline, so we'll see what I can come up with.

Wow. I hope your recovery goes well. I think it would be neat if you recorded your healing progress. (Like, a video record of how much better and better you played as you recovered.)

This is what a typical goof-around session sounds like. I added some post-EQ to reduce muddiness and added a touch of reverb because, well, why not?
Psychologically I tend to shrink if I know there's a camera involved, even if it's my own, but that doesn't excuse this performance. IMO it's humbling when you can get a 3rd person perspective on your performance. Sometimes you think you're doing things correctly, but a different perspective can really bring technical errors to light.
As far as rating goes, here's how I give mine:
Performance - 2 Quality - 4 Presentation - 2.

Nice dude! Wait, didn't you have surgery on your wrist? Doesn't sound like it! I'd give you more points on performance - goof off session or not. That's what samples are for! Thanks for posting it. Good mix too... and I feel self-conscious about being on video too. When I make some facial expressions while drumming, I think I look like an alien. (And my flapping beard while blasting is me trying to communicate telepathically) Your setup reminds me of my brother's kit in his studio... which in turn, makes me feel how quaint my setup is compared to everyone else's. Everything has to be soooooo close together, so I don't have to reach far to connect. When you were testing (before you started playing), all I could think about was how far away that crash was. (This, coming from a guy that has his ride covering the half of 2 toms) ____________________________ I posted my second drumming sample video elsewhere because I made a song out of it, but I guess a link to it won't hurt. I worked hard on it, even though its only 2 minutes long and would give it 4's across the board.

Here's a short Instagram video of my progress. If you're unfamiliar with instagram, it allows a maximum of 14 seconds of video and it plays on a loop.

I've only been playing guitar about a year and a half, decided to throw together a compilation of some riffs i've been working on. Sloppily performed, of course. Riff 1&4 are for future Bleak Harvest material, 2&3 are future Maugrim material.

It actually sounded pretty cool to play my drum only video (in the origial post) at the same time as your guitar only video. I need to post a video of my black metal guitaring - my fretting will probably look weird to most people considering my custom tuning.
....also, your beard is quite epic.

That beard has been growing longer than I have been playing guitar...which in reality, is pretty pathetic for it's age hahah it's been at a standstill for a while. I reckon i'll never see a good Gandalf beard.

Just a terrible video of me playing bass I figured I'd send to my fiancee while she was away, so I'd also figure I'd put it here. I'm not playing anything in particular, just whatever comes to mind. Careful with the sound, as the bass gets pretty loud at certain parts, and sound quality's not very good. Also, my timing's off in several parts.
It was fun though!

Yes please! This thread needs more contributions! I'm going to double dip and post this video. It shows me playing drums, 2 guitars and vocals in this remix of an Orationem track.

I've debated posting stuff in my head for awhile, mostly because I don't feel like I'm in any way, shape, or form "good"....... But here's a link to a sound click page where there's a few terribly performed rough demo of actual guitar work, and a few MIDI sound files generated with a program called PowerTab of a few other things I've written. I haven't actively pursued the writing process for a year or two now, but I'm willing to bet I've got enough material in my head for a full length, just lacking in talent/motivation/balls. www.soundclick.com/mobile/default.cfm?bandid=1191183

Hmmmm....pops right open for me Try this maybe? www.soundclick.com/exosdemoprojectIf you wanna shoot drums my way, be my guest. I can't guarantee I'd ever do much, though. Life has left me lacking the motivation for awhile now. Cool of you to offer!

The first link didn't work for me either. Weird. Sounds like there are some interesting ideas here! Keep practicing, it'd be interesting to hear this stuff utilized on a proper release someday

Exo, I think you have huge potential as a guitarist. That Stormsinger instrument demo track is rad as hell.
Sorry for the delay on sending the drumtracks. I just emailed you an album's worth of drums.
I spent 6 hours at my parent's house yesterday (they live an hour away from me) and then I CRASHED at home for 12 hours. Off of chemo, I'm like a little kid - so excited and feel great, I go until I pass out. HAHA!!

Exo, your guitar work is I think even more impressive without drums. Even if you're using a metronome, your timing is great. Your fretwork is great. You should be making albums bro.

Next song skeleton. Need to work up an I tried and I've got another riff motif to work in before the harmony section I've got at the end. This does NOT immediately follow any of the stuff I've already put up, there'll be a couple other things in between those and this one. soundcloud.com/exolasher/abbath-y-thing
