I don't know where it would properly belong so I put it here as I want to share this site that offers free legal Downloads of Christian Music permitted by the bands:
ataworship.blogspot.de/
There is much Death Metal, Hardcore, Unblack Metal, Heavy Metal, Punk and anything else from all around the world, but mainly from Southern America. Some of the links don' work anymore what is quite sad from time to time - but anyway IMO a good place to get into obscure bands ;-)
Blessings to you guys out there! :-)

I did know about that SkyBurnsBlack page, but didn't think to add it! Thanks! Are In Grief a Christian band?

Are In Grief a Christian band? My impression is that they were Christians in a band. I could be wrong about that. I'm not sure where that impression came from. I'm sure someone can clear it up. If not, consider that suggestion retracted.

Deserted Soul was released by Bombworks, so it's probably fine. The lyrics are available online so you can read them all you want.

are any of these site actually authorized by the bands or their labels or whoever the copyright holder of the music is? otherwise they are not legal.

All of the links posted in this thread are authorized by the bands. I can't vouch for everything listed in those forum threads I posted, but everything I've been able to check out on them has been legal. Typically, they are posts about bands making their music available for free on Bandcamp. (It's worth noting that several of the posts on Christian Headbangers weren't Christian bands. If you read the thread you'll see the discussion about that.) I'm conscientious about legality. There is far too much pirating on the internet. If you want music, you buy it. It's that simple. It's not a victimless crime and the artists need support. The In Grief album I linked is their official page on CD Baby. I think the label made their album download free because they changed their name and went a different direction musically when they lost their keyboardist. Was there something I listed about which you were concerned doommaster? I'll follow up.

just in general most blogspot downloads are not really legal or authorized by the bands. I know as I used to be a big downloader and those blogs is how I got most of it. I have since deleted all of it and I buy it all on cd now, as much as I can anyway. So I am very weary about blogspot downloads.

I have normally checked what I have downloaded from ataworship - and all of those Downloads were authorized by the bands - otherwise I would not have posted it here :-)

Big time. ...likewise, my music featured was with permission. I know that, but can't speak for anyone else. If any of the artists complain, we'll certainly remove the link here. I'd even be willing to help them file the paperwork to get the filesharing site(s) to remove the downloads. (I've done my fair share of this with my own music, sadly)

Did anyone ever grab the Vanguard album Erek and Ivor that was supposedly up for free download years ago? I did, I don't think a physical copy was ever released. I only know of it being released on myspace.

I did, I don't think a physical copy was ever released. I only know of it being released on myspace. The tone of this review seems to indicate that there were physical CDs despite them reviewing the digital version, but I'm not sure and the blog hasn't been updated since 2009.

I was always curious about that release because I enjoyed the Vociferor EP.

Hmm, I think in this case he is using the term "CD" as a stand-in for "album". I always wished there was a physical copy. I have a physical copy of Bring Hope and I have the Vociferor EP though.

The music is decent. "Kingdom Metal" is a ridiculous term. It blows my mind why anyone would coin such a new goofy genre for something that's obviously black thrash.

"Kingdom Metal" is a ridiculous term. I thought the same thing. Black metal is a genre, not an ideology.

I'll have to give it a listen. Agreed, "kingdom metal" is quite silly sounding, but so is "unblack" in my opinion (which goes with what CW said about black metal being a genre not an ideology...).
It seems that about every band just hates being labeled/pigeon-holed into a genre or style of metal. I've seen a ton of silly self-appointed genre labels over the years but in the end, I don't really care so long as the music and lyrics are good!
