Had a great wedding and reception. I really couldn't have imagined it going better. A few highlights of the day: - My nephew (the ring bearer) who's 3 years old and walking down the aisle with the sign that says "Uncle Tom, Here comes your happy ever after." Talk about digging my thumbnail into my finger to choke back the happy-tears. - Playing Origin's "Inhuman" song at the reception and watching the country music listening bridesmaids (and both flower girls) follow me in a makeshift mosh pit (so fricking awesome, I'll remember that FOREVER) - People cocking their heads to the side while listening to Alcest's "Les Voyages de l'Âme", which played during the ceremony. (Its hard to understand the words if you don't know French.) - Line dancing with my wife. Yes, I line danced to country music. ...for the first time ever. For multiple songs ...and I was good at it. - My brother's toast speech - My brother's reaction when his introduction song to the reception was Mr. Bishops Fist "Confuted System". (HUGE amounts of nostalgia) - Watching my wife's parents dance to Conway Twitty. - That NO ONE got wasted and the alcohol was contained to the back of the reception hall - I made $48 from the "Dollar Dance" my wife and I had at the reception. She made $59. The money we made together in cards was RIDICULOUS. - My mother son dance with my mom to Schaliach's "Coming of the Dawn". Another tear-jerker for mom because I played that song on guitar when I was in her youth group at church YEARS ago. - Having a few country music fans (including the Usher) come up to me and ask me and ask me who's music that was at the end of the reception, after I saw them bobbing their head to it. That band is Nightwish. - The wedding night. It wasn't the best night's sleep I've ever had. Who am I kidding. All of 8/1/15 was one of the best days of my life.

Going to Destin FL! We've got a condo right on the beach and we'll be there a solid week. One of our pictures we took with the wedding photographer was to custom make thank you cards. A little skill with photoshop and I think its a neat idea and design.

After flying most of the morning, we're finally at our destination! The condo is better than I dreamed. The decorations are awesome, and I've got a view of the ocean from most windows! Here's the bedroom. The ceilings are so tall! Where the whole family can gather. If its nice enough outside, we'll be on the balcony! The condo is two stories. (my beautiful bride on the balcony) Enough room for everyone!

Well, I'm a few days back from my honeymoon/vacation in Destin, Florida. Had an outstanding time! I probably ate fresh crab meat every day. The water was a very clear blue, the sand was very white. I boogie-board'ed some, but I ended up having the most fun being face down in the shallows with goggles on, picking up shells and... Shark teeth! My wife and I found 26 of them total. I didn't see any sharks, but I saw a few stingrays at dusk. (I can post pictures of shells if anyone is interested.) One stingray was as big as me, but was in deeper water and I admired him from a distance. One scared the crap out of me because I was in waste deep water, swimming underwater toward shore and he come up from the sand right in front of me. What was neat was there were usually about 8-10 hand-sized fish that followed me around. I think some of it was for protection against bigger fish (which weren't too far away), and they were very interested what I stirred up from the sand. Getting the shells/teeth was a bit challenging at times. For one, a lot of stuff was broken from the waves and everything was in relatively shallow water so I had to be on my stomach. For two, I had about 15-30 seconds before each wave hit to spot and grab. Once the wave hits, it stirs up sand/bubbles so I can't see anything for about 10 seconds and what was there before would probably be buried or broken. I literally had one shot to get the goods.

Today, I spent most of the day with a hatchet in my hand, taking all all the "junk trees" that have grown up around my wife's garage and house. (Since we're married now and lives with me, we're getting her house ready for the market.)
It's really hard for a semi-muscular bald man to walk in a yard, in town, while holding a hatchet and not look like a psychopath. I was really self conscious about this today.
For cars driving / people walkin by, they'd look concerned if I looked at them and gave a friendly smile. They'd stare if I didn't look at them. (and then look away if did) I tried holding the hatchet differently, then realized it looked suspicious to hide that I was carrying it. I was wearing regular clothes (not all black) but... wearing overalls wouldn't have made me look less crazy. Definitely not a clown costume.
The only way I didn't look threatening was when I was carrying trees with the hatchet. ...but I wasn't about to carry anything back from the brush pile I was making.
Luckily no one had a response other than walking/driving away.

I just got an email from Amazon trying to sell me Slayer's new album. In addition to everyone always asking if I'm related to Kerry King [I'm not], one of the guys is wearing a Santa Cruz shirt! Haha that's cool.

Dang, the whales have been OFF THE HOOK [heh heh, get it... like fishing hook?] lately! I guess with the warmer waters and stuff, they've been feeding right near the beaches. It's pretty cool. I saw probably half a dozen yesterday evening.

LOL - I responded to your Slayer thread on the CMR. ...and here I thought you were missing out by not having "lightning bugs" in your area.
I've never seen a whale in person. (not counting the small ones in shows)

I got this pretty neat app on my phone. It's a camera, but it morphs the picture you just take into a Zombie appearance. Its weird because they use algorithms to animate the picture and make it look like you're face it moving. Pretty neat! ...I even made one of my cats look like a zombie! I can't show the animation, but you can see the appearance. Here's me an my wife, normal, then zombie in the spoiler.

It's the absolute best way to clean your ears bro. When you're practically deaf like I am, you don't want any wax to block any sound!

That's awesome!!!! Hope you really enjoy each moment you have with her! In Colorado I have reserved a nice suite up in the Rocky Mountains. We're just going to enjoy life, eat good food, soak in the hot tub as the snow falls down. Spend quality time with the kids. And then we're going to see the new Hunger Games while we're there! Ever been to Colorado? It's very beautiful.

- My brother's reaction when his introduction song to the reception was Mr. Bishops Fist "Confuted System". (HUGE amounts of nostalgia) I know this is old news [zombiegrave], but Mr. Bishops Fist was the best. Why couldn't they have released an album?

That youtube video of Confuted System was posted by one of the dudes from Mr. Bishop's Fist. I normally wouldn't recommend reading the comments, but he mentioned something about being critically ill.
...and I also had no idea he was in the band Warlord.

Tonight I had fun playing some Grave Declaration for some of the older relatives of mine. I got the typical, expected, and hilarious "this isn't music" responses, but there was something else that was interesting. For them, it was awful even before the vocals came in. I guess that aggressive drumming and tremolo riffs were enough to ruin it for them lol. Most people that I've shown this kind of music to are fine with it until the vocals come in, so this was different.

As an additional experiment, I played some Vials of Wrath, and asked them to pinpoint the part of the song where it changes from music to "not music". They were cool with the clean guitar but complained that it was repetitive. The moment that the distortion came in, they said that it was just noise because it all blends together and you can't hear anything. Now I know they're old, but come on, even someone like Thomas who is hard of hearing can tell what's going on in Vials of Wrath. I'm half-debating playing some Verdelger for them...that would be fun...

Hahaha that is great. All this talk of Evroklidon has got me thinking that may be a fun one too! That dude's vocals are pretty extreme. I like showing people Unexpect. They are just so over the top.
