I just got my hands on the new Demoniciduth as well. Haven't listened to it yet, but I will soon! ...an OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO!!! This video has gotten almost 1,000 views in 4 days on the Christian Metal Underground Facebook page. That's pretty HUGE - especially considering a big label like Rottweiler had 100 video views in one WEEK. So stoked!

Duane from Vision of God wanted me to hold off on uploading Disgyblaeth to YouTube until the CDs and downloads could be purchased. Well, they can be purchased.... visionofgodrecords.com/product/disgyblaeth-revelation-cd/visionofgodrecords.bandcamp.com/album/revelation...so I've uploaded a playlist with all 6 songs to the OrationemOfficial channel. I'm also re-uploading the "Not Live" with slightly different video footage. (since the original had some framerate issues) Both the Disgyblaeth and Orationem "Not Live" videos are "a hint" towards effects I'll be using for the next Orationem official music video, which will be of the exclusive track for The Hymns of the Blackest Light Vol 2 comp. I've also updated Orationem.com to include links on where to buy all 5 pro-pressed albums, the "discount bundle" and digital downloads, all available through Vision of God Records.

I have finished recording drums for a 6th full length. They're definitely not compiled into "drum tracks" yet, but... I've never rolled that way. XD

*clears throat*
So I've been kicking around some lyrical concepts. Any "I'm feeling burnt out" I've ever felt for Orationem had more to do with how to pray so each song is different. I'd still like to stick with the praying format, in part.... but a slightly different approach to the lyrics as well.
The good thing is, the concepts I'm kicking around would be more on the biblical side of things (more bible, less prayer - kinda thing) The bad thing is, I'm probably going to rock some boats in the Christian metal scene.
Not bad for me, or the faith, or Christian black metal.... but.... Orationem has done "shout outs" before. Like the "A Blessing for All" track January 2017, where I mention personal things. The boat rocking part is, less "shouting out" and more "calling out"...

Sounds interesting and edgy, can't wait to see what you come up with. Thanks bro! I'll not be petty of course.... but I'm rather fond of "Paul's Letters" and the similar format they all have. My idea right now, is each song is like a letter, addressed to one group/entity. (may be Christian or not) Address any controversies or the other side, applaud their approach. ...and then wrap up the track with a prayer for them. Regarding Christian metal specifically, I think the edginess there has more to do with the "anti-satanic" approach bands have. From a logical standpoint, hating hate is like trying to defeat alcoholism by drinking alcohol. If its not an issue of hate, its an issue of respect. Still not entirely sure where to go with this - I need to research more.

I'm dragging my feet on furthering progress on this album. Heat/humidity - creativity is harder to tap into while I'm physically more uncomfortable, busy summer stuff from working more, invitro cycle stuff with the wife, etc. etc. etc.
This will be something resumed and concluded closer to fall of this year.

Even though next week is my birthday, extra hours at work and doctor appointments for invitro stuff..... I am still planning on working more on the new Orationem then.
Things are going to be a bit differently musically than prior albums.
I'm taking a different approach to how I put the drum tracks together.... (since this WILL be more technical) Got some new gear and software to whack at guitars. Gonna experiment with an "auxiliary instrument".
If I had to venture a guess on what this one would sound like from everything jumbling around in my head - take "Pure Peace and Joy, Love and Kindness" but piles more variety/riffs. Probably shorter songs because of that too.
I'd like to aim at 10 tracks averaging at 4 minutes running a piece. ....will it be that for certain? Hard to tell.

Did some guitar tests that went extremely well. Just gotta get some levels just right and I'll be ready to start compiling drum tracks and recording guitars.
Probably won't start that today - maybe tomorrow.

Got a music sample if you guys are interested - a taste of things to come. Its drums and guitars. A very thrown together sample, but good enough to get an idea what to expect composition-wise. (not for production) orationem.com/Album6Sample.mp3I am BOUND and DETERMINED not to REPEAT A-N-Y riffs.... so its gonna be that maelstrom ALL the way through.

I have the music for 2 tracks done. Doesn't sound like much, but with how things are this release, its monumental. A billion* riffs in 4-5 minutes (the current running rate) is quite taxing - but its a success so far! I'd get 1/2 to 1/3rd of the drum track layered with guitars and need to step away for a day or two, because I've tapped out all the current creativity and gotta let my brain refill.
I've also got the production about 85%-90% narrowed down. It definitely sounds different from the uber-raw sample above.
I sent some production samples to my brother for review. For one, he can physically hear better than I can - I'm probably on the verge of needing hearing aids. For two, he owns a studio - like records people for their country/rap/rock albums, etc. For three, he UNDERSTANDS THE CONCEPT of lo-fi black metal production - and has been good at determining when harshness adds to the recording, or gets in the way.
* not literally a billion, but a lot. Way more than any of my previous music.

(not for production) I've got a production sample if anyone here is interested. Don't worry about music spoilers, as its the EXACT same clip above, just with algorithms applied to make it sound "finished". I still have to record this "auxiliary instrument" but I won't go there until all the drums/guitar are done. I'm satisfied with it! Its definitely that wall-of-noise, muddy-mess, lo-fi-black approach I was looking for. orationem.com/Album6Sample+.mp3My wife gave me her layman's take on it. She used the term "distorted strings" which made me [weights1] and [dancing] and feel closer to "Mission Complete".

I'm hoping to get a lot done on the music this upcoming week. I felt like getting the album art done. I'll spare the verbiage on my ideas and it's creation, and just drop it in a link below. I am very happy with the results. Only thing that's missing is the album name - that will be added later. 6th Cover

I'm very curious about what inspired it actually. It's interesting / strange. First and foremost, I wanted appropriate black metal presentation style "eye candy" - which to my preference, it something that looks "horrifying" and "scary" - perhaps even "gross/ugly". I decided for (this) lo-fi black metal release, even grayscale was too colorful. Those faces, are pictures of my face - ran through the "threshold gauntlet" on Photoshop, which ripped out all colors besides pure black, and pure white. I find the resulting corpsepaint-without-the-corpsepaint look to be rather delightful actually. The thorn designs is what made this take a few days to create. At best, the layout is a nod to Christ and the two-unknowns at crucifixion. ...obviously, presented in a rather ghoulish and blackmetal-y manner. At worst, someone would read too much into all of the above and think its an inaccurate portrayal of a "Christian" concept, to which my response would be a simple.... "Your doing it wrong." My inspiration? I wanted sick art for what will be a sick album. That is all.

Post by Thomas Eversole on Aug 24, 2018 15:35:01 GMT -6
I'm certain this album will be 7 tracks. I'm probably "mostly done" with the music for a total of 5 tracks.
I'm currently backing up my production to my server, because it would suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck to lose what I've done so far.
If I had a venture a guess, based on the rate of completion - this would be released right around Halloween this year. (like Your Presence and Strength) That's fitting - considering how horrific the album art is. [rofl]
Yes, I know I normally crank out albums like nothing. The debut Orationem took a week. 2nd album took 3 days. I just don't think I can do that with this. I want it done now of course, but rushing creates problems - and this is too good IMO to rush. Its just got some pretty big musical differences compared to the prior albums. I'd say "feeling around in the dark" with these riffs is what's taking longer...

I would consider it a bad habit to go back and listen to the tracks I've already recorded. Since I've always been quite spontaneous in the Orationem recording process, I do have to go back and listen to what I've recorded within reason - the last thing I want to do is put "very similar" riffs in other tracks that I forgot I recorded in prior tracks.
Man, some of these riffs really made me smile. There's a healthy amount of thrash, doom and death coming from the guitars, but it still sounds quite black to me.
