oh I like the cheesiness. It takes away the metal-ness to the sound, but I'm okay not listening to metal most of the time. Same can be said about Oathbreaker.

Those are some interesting vocals! When he screams more aggressively, I like it, but when he does the more held-back parts, I don't like it.

I only heard hardcore type vocals... but I only got through part of a song before I ran out of steam...

No idea if this has shown up in the previous posts or not, don't have what it takes to wade thru it all right this instant.....

That's some of the better viking type metal I've heard. Not really something I'd study, but perfect for washing over the listener...

Love their logo. The melodies sound good, but the pace of those drums is a lull. It would be nice if they picked up speed instead of just strolling along...

I recently discovered this band. It is a good mix of heavy, melodic, and atmospheric music.

Good first impression! Definitely something I'll want to study later.

I like that too... except I dig the vocals, but not that the song is in mid pace purgatory.

There is a new Chinese atmospheric black/dungeon synth supergroup of sorts called Demogorgon. Decent stuff.

Someone else must have posted that link because I'd watched that Journey Into the Forgotten Land video before. It's really talented stuff, and I appreciate the writing...
...but it's as musically/aesthetically appealing to me as watching a bunch of grown dudes with puffy shirts, LARPing in a park. It's too falalalala for me to enjoy it.

you're on top of your chinese metal, I see Keiheijinshu! Have you ever explored the depths of douban? And if you're interested, I have a link that is basically the motherload of underground chinese music downloads (beyond the obvious baidu and what used to be www.google.cn/music until they banned google almost altogether). I have spent many many hours researching almost every single chinese metal and grindcore band. I haven't done so in the last couple years though so there are new bands and releases i do not know about. Kill the Light is probably my favorite record label followed by Pest Productions and Mort Productions. I own several chinese metal albums and some rare chinese grindcore EPs which could be worth something in ten years or so. but let's get back to topic, here's a list of chinese atmospheric bands I like. Asthenia - post-black metal asthenia69.bandcamp.com/album/nucleationSpeechless - atmospheric depressive black metal Zenariz - dsbm I am connected to this guy on wechat and was suposed to visit himwhen i was last in Kunming but ended up being too busy, he gave up metal btw so no more of this project E.D.I.E.H. - ambient black/doom metal 安娜与陈飙 (The Anna & Chenbiao) - post-rock/ambient/neoclassical I know these guys too and if you look through this forum, you'll see that this album has some history with the forum. Long story short, I ended distributing around ten copies of this album to people in America and Thailand when I was last in China. And by the way, I was the one who uploaded this video. In It - post-rock pestproductions.bandcamp.com/album/none-of-that-mattersSparrow - post-rock yoursparrow.bandcamp.com/album/rainbow-mountainand other popular bands that i skipped: Heartless, Wangwen, and Be Persecuted

I know a few of those bands. I have a digital version of a Zenaris split with Noose, Duringlifend, and Desolate Hills. Unfortunately, I do not have physical copies of most Chinese metal. I have ventured more into the Taiwanese scene than the mainland scene.
They are more symphonic than atmospheric, but Anthelion (幻日) is probably the biggest Taiwanese BM band after 閃靈 (Chthonic).

Thanks to Ben, we both have it!
My wife LOVES that album by the way. It is her go-to album for traveling (flying, waiting in airports, train rides, etc.).

That Ellende is some very well put together music. I wish the pace of this didn't feel like they were holding back. Groove loses me if there's no intensity to balance it. (I know I sound like a broken record, griping about bands that don't blast or only have little blast snippets hidden in their tracks - this would be the latter)
