Could not log in for many months for some reason. But oh boy was this one of my favorite releases, him and his band mate both have solid solo projects out right now. Too bad they are sold out. I am also interested in his main band , Inaeris. A live show was back in August, I attended!

A classic. Recently I have been listening to Summoning quite often. Ah I just can't get enthralled in Summoning.

Me either. Always thought Summoning was kind of goofy, especially their logo.

It's because they are synth and percussion driven whereas I'm a guitarist and like to hear guitar driven music.

Always thought Summoning was kind of goofy, especially their logo. I think their logo is actually kinda cool. Regardless, it's hard for me to take any band that sings about hobbits, orcs, and wizards very seriously. Summoning just never appealed to me for that reason.

Well except I don't mind the lyrics a person chooses, hobbit talk is fine in small quantities.

The music not being guitar-driven is actually one of the things that I like about. I certainly do like guitar-driven music, but sometimes I enjoy it being changed up. However, I can understand why it is not to everyone's tastes. The same applies to the lyrical themes, I enjoy them because I am a fan of epic fantasy fiction, but can see why others would prefer more serious lyrical content.

Agreed; when I listened to secular music more, I was obsessed with Summoning. Well, I knew more songs by them than I did for most bands anyway, haha. I disagree with Summoning's ideologies, on the rare occasion they've expressed them, but I love the idea of their music - reversing the typical metal formula, pushing the guitars to the very back and letting the keyboards do the talking. Though I guess "Stronghold" was kind of an exception, if the like, two songs I ever knew from it were anything to go by.
It's very hard to find ... metal that isn't guitar-driven. Maybe that's why I like Revororum ib Malacht's new album so much. That, and I don't really care too much these days for the "medieval" "fantasy" thing of bands like Summoning.

It's because they are synthetic and percussion driven whereas I'm a guitarist and like to hear guitar driven music. I actually prefer all the music elements to work together. I won't fall head over heels in love with an album just because the guitars are amazing... or the drums are amazing... Guitar driven can mean a really awesome backbone with guitars... or it could also mean the other music elements are meh... The Summoning music is ok. It's not bad. The "goofy" I mentioned does have a lot to do with the band's theme, like Kerrick mentioned. The band Thoth (that writes about Star Wars) is in the same boat.

violetcold.bandcamp.com/album/desperate-dreamsWhat is all y'all opinions on this? Even though it's not done to perfection I love the idea. The indie pop synths could have been better implemented but I love the zaniness of them. Btw this dude is from Azerbaijan!

For the most part, I really like that. The drumming and vocals are better than average and I like the melodies and structure. That opening part after the piano where it was just drums and that goofy synth about lost me... but I'm really glad I stuck around for the full music to kick in.

Gotta love Mesarthim though! I own almost their whole discography. It took a little while to enjoy their stuff. It wasn't until Isolate was released that it finally clicked with me. Now I can't get enough of it.

It does kind of bug me though that the author talked about the "accidental design" of space... That's huge. Most people/scientists with an opinion/education regarding space, deny any "design" whatsoever - accidental or not. Even if he thinks the design was accidental, that's still exponential to be out of the "anti-design" box.

I didn't really think that that's how he meant it though. I interpreted "design" as definition 11 found here, which wouldn't imply any sort of intentional creation at all.

I have been working on my atmospheric black metal/ambient project a bit and am improving the two tracks on the demo I released. I decided to take the ambient parts from the first track and combine them with the metal parts on the other and I think it sounds a lot better, especially with the mix improved. Any constructive feedback is greatly appreciated. soundcloud.com/kyle-kristian/with-feather-and-tooth-all

I thought I replied to this. I guess not. I liked it! Though I was a bit surprised when it turned into a mostly "normal" metal song. The intro had me thinking it was going to be more experimental.

Thank you! I have three songs in development so far. Two of them (including this one) are more "normal" atmospheric black metal while one of them is more experimental. The more experimental track actually leads into the introduction on this track, but the full track is not very complete at this time.

The intro, in my ears, was not atmospheric enough for the atmosphere of the guitars that followed. The riffing is nice for sure. What is your goal for the music you make? Personally?

Thank you for the feedback. My goal is mostly just to make music I enjoy and share it in hopes that someone else will enjoy it. Although I have not yet recorded vocals, the lyrics I write either reflect my interests or my points of view. Sometimes more serious in tone, but sometimes just for fun. For instance, the lyrics I am writing for this project mostly focus on how faith and science are not mutually exclusive would be included with the former, while Álfablót's themes of Elves, folklore, and fantasy are not as serious as the themes for With Feather and Tooth and thus would be included with the latter.

I liked it, also. But the beginning and end didn't seem to link up with the middle well for me. That seems completely fixable, but it seems like two different songs right now. Thanks for sharing and keep it up! Look forward to what you'll do next.

working on some new blackmetal but this time with what my roommate is calling emofolk vocals. I stillhaven't mastered them. Apparently when I try to sing from the heart, I sing an emo melody with a slight folk timbre and an accentuating oklahoma accent. I'm gonna try to continue my quest towards blackened emo. It's been fun so far.
