“Why hasn’t God answered this prayer? Why didn’t He fulfill this promise? Why did He let this happen to me? Why did He let this happen to him or her? Why is God silent when I need to hear Him most?”
These are the questions that plague the mind of the serious believer.
If you’ve not yet met the God who refuses to meet all your expectations, you will. And how you react in that day will reveal whether you are worshipping Jesus Christ or Santa Claus.
It will show whether or not you love God more than His promises (or your interpretation of those promises). Job said, “Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?”
Would you still serve the Lord if it sent you to hell?
Recall the three Hebrew children. They lived lives loyal to their God. And the pagan king gave them an ultimatum:
“Worship the golden image or else you’re going to die in my fiery furnace.”
Their answer is telling: “We’re not going to serve your gods or worship the image. The Lord is able to deliver us from your furnace and He will deliver us. But even if He doesn’t, we still will not bow the knee to your gods.”
What attitude. What posture. What faith.
“God will deliver us. But even if He doesn’t, we will still follow Him.”
Those words contain thunder and lightning for every child of God.

Man, I enjoyed being on this guy's email list for the longest time, until I got his email from 2 hours ago. He made all these prediction for 2017. That cultish crap will turn me off to someone's message faster than anything.
Unsubscribed.

I just read that email, seems odd you would think of it as cultish? Seems the prediction in point 3 is the outcome of putting into practice what is encouraged in the article of point 2, "3 Strategies for a Life-Changing Year." the original email frankviola.org/2016/12/15/last2016/

The Bible speaks against predicting the future (Deuteronomy 18:10b-12a and Jeremiah 14:14-16 are two references that come to mind) ...and for good reason. None of us know the future, that's only in God's will and His power.
Its one thing to state "I think _________ will happen", in passing conversation... but its another to include such a thing in the context/presentation of ministry (like Frank did). From a common sense standpoint, if predictions don't come true (Harold Camping comes to mind) it discredits God and the faith.

I commented on that forum almost exactly what I replied here with. ...and he deleted it. I rest my case. Predictions from that link: See THAT wreaks of "fortune telling". I mean, even the ambiguity is there... (ie: "You will start something new and quit something old." – I guess that means he predicted the future if my wife buys different soap for the bathroom. D:<

That doesn't really sound like fortune telling per se, more like throwing crap against the wall to see what sticks. Or it could be sort of self-fulfilling prophecy thing where stuff happens because we think it will happen. But mostly the crap on the wall thing.
