Oh Oh! I know Stryper has a song called Yahweh. I was in a thread on the CMR about that song until the butthurt decibels from posts became louder than the music.
Welcome to the forum Hezekiah St. Raven! I hope you enjoy your stay!

That one ... where they had the hair ... and it was on VH1 one afternoon. Honestly, I can name maybe ... two Stryper songs in total that I know anything about. You can imagine how the Christian Metal Scene™ has been for me in the last week or so. LOL. Well I'm right there with you. I wouldn't be able to recognize a Stryper song if my life depended on it (except the one where they yell "to hell with the devil" because I've at least heard OF that song...) What are some Christian black metal bands you enjoy?

Yeah there are a few folks over at CMR who are real quick to turn the butthurt to 11.

My favorite "Stryper related" song is probably the cover done by Argyle Park ... "Lonely" I think? It had the cool "blooping" sound in the background. I am soooo out of date with Christian black metal, I haven't listened to anything new in forever. I suppose one of my all time favorites is Evroklidon and I really liked Horrific Majesty. Generally my favorite style is the depressive suicidal black metal stuff, which I haven't heard a lot of coming out of the Christian scene. I wonder if the name scares people or something, heh. Of course people also refer to it as "emo black metal" so that probably puts people off as well. I'm really not a whiney, self absorbed teen though, I swear... I just like the atmosphere of that style

I messaged the dude from Bediah, trying to get him here, and he said that he was working on some anti-DSBM stuff. I like that style too - there's a DSBM thread in the secular black metal section. I'd love to see other recommendations! [candy]

Hi guys,
I got into death metal about 12 years ago and, after coming to Christ 4 years ago, discovered the joys of black metal. I would say I'm half way between death and black with a noticeable lean toward death, but always looking to explore new / unfamiliar God-glorifying bands in either direction. I also want to expand my reach across secular death / black metal familiarity...even enjoyment...I do believe strongly in being "in the world but not of the world." Don't mean to start a (probably tired here) theological debate. I just struggle with the lyrical content of many secular bands in these genres whose music I would otherwise really enjoy if not for "their message." For example I really admire Brook Reeves' dedication/preference to touring with secular bands in his genre so as to be a light in the darkness; I made sure to tell him so when I bought some merch from him at his table last time he toured in my state. So yeah, Impending Doom is probably my all-around favorite band, I also really enjoy Grave Declaration, Drottnar, A Hill to Die Upon, Crimson Moonlight; on the lighter side / branching out I'm really into Immortal Souls, Broken Flesh, Deuteronomium and tons more. Love Extol; just getting into Abated Mass of Flesh and Every Knee Shall bow.
I haven't posted to a forum in about five years, that was when online poker almost destroyed my marriage (you can probably guess the type of forum that was). Luckily God had other plans for me. So yeah; I'm excited to discuss music, life, witness.

Welcome to the forum wolfsbeign! Glad you're hear. Please make yourself at home. I understand the lyrical conviction, even though I honestly don't have it myself. There's already plenty of threads around here about "safe" secular extreme metal, and I'm learning about new (and awesome) Christian black and death metal from what others find and share here. I totally get enjoying the black AND death genres, so much so that I play it as well. (Lyrically, its more the "cool metal story" and not Christian in concept, but of course me being a follower of Christ, it is a "safe secular") I hope you've conquered your gambling habit! By the grace of God, I haven't had a drink or a drug since March 20th 2007 and that's certainly His doing!!! Again, welcome aboard!

Hallo from Southern Germany!
Back in younger days I was introduced in the Christian metal scene through my brother-in-law, my favourite bands stay Antestor, Vaakevandring, Saviour Machine, Veni Domine, Holy Blood, Immortal Souls and Slechtvalk. Being raised in Southern German Pietism I listen to all Kind of Christian Music as far as it is hard and/or dark ;-) but I also tolerate secular Music as far as it does not blaspheme my believes. I am glad to see a Forum about Christian Underground and darker Music!
Brutal Blessings

Well, I can't remember if I already made an account back when blackened hymns forum was still alive. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of the unblack metal scene (and black metal in general). After accepting Christ back in 2007, I decided to avoid everything that I used to listen to that was anti-christian, satanic or... well.. anti-life! And trust me, I listened to it A LOT. But I've never regret that decision. I discovered a whole new world of christian music (thanks to Nordic Mission and Metal Helm btw) which I didn't realize it could even exist! Christian black metal??! Come on! But look at me now Blasting Slechtvalk, Antestor, Crimson Moonlight, Vials Of Wrath, Armath Sargon, Elgibbor ... man, I love this scene! So many unique bands, like Kekal, Extol (alongside with Mantric and Lengsel). I don't dislike some death metal too, like Krig, Broken Flesh, Monotheist (man, what a band!) ... and even a bit of metalcore/postcore. Underoath, Haste The Day, This or The Apocalypse, just to mention a few that I really love. And I still listen to some secular bands like Stormlord, Enslaved (the last 4-5 albums), Opeth, Novembre (the most brilliant band to come out from Italy)... well, I listen to quite a lot of stuff really. And that's it! Now I'm 32, and I'm going to be married next year. Hopefully Gonna move all of my cds to the new house. And that will be a hard task!

eskhata, you have some good taste. I like just about every subgenre of metal as well (including 'core). I'm 33 so we are close to the same age as well. Congratulations on the engagement. You better post pictures when you (eventually) get married.
Since you like death metal, are you familiar with Tortured Conscience? I recommend checking them out.
Happy Friday!

I've posted a couple of times already, but suppose I'll introduce myself more formally.
My interest in CBM is fairly recent. I had many years where I didn't really listen to metal much at all. When I picked up my interest again, I didn't get black metal. I remember listening to Usynlig Tumult and thinking "this is terrible." I started to enjoy Lo-Ruhamah, and they helped me appreciate black metal. Since then, I've come to enjoy all kinds of CBM (including Usynlig Tumult). I like quite a bit of other extreme metal, listen to a lot of non-metal, and listen to some non-Christian bands.
I think I'm probably more of a lurker by nature, but that doesn't seem polite. So I'll try to contribute now and then.

Welcome! I think you'll find that this is a pretty good little community of folks here. Also, this will be a great spot for you to discover new bands in the scene as you continue to dig further into it. Most of us here are fans of the "classics" like Antestor, Crimson Moonlight, etc. but collectively there's a pretty expansive wealth of knowledge of the more obscure and underground Christian metal too (and of other genres/styles as well!). Glad to have you here!

Cool - thanks! I've already made some good discoveries since being here. When I say I'm relatively new, I mean in relation to how long I've been listening to metal. I've probably been listening to CBM for about four years or so, and I've done quite a bit of damage to my wallet in that time! I don't yet own a single album by Antestor, but that will change!
