I love Throat Productions but it takes forever for their shipments to come to me. Almost a month. They started with more dsbm and blackgaze but have moved onto more standard black metal.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [iframe title="YouTube video player" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/uVyL8t3nwbU?wmode=transparent&start=0" allowfullscreen="1" frameborder="0" height="349" width="560"][/iframe] Sounds awesome so far. I really like the subtle atmosphere they have going on. I also like the subtle melancholic tinge to it. It's melancholic, but not extremely depressing, which seems exceptionally difficult for a lot of artists (especially secular ones) to pull off.

KralliceThese dudes get a lot of love from the secular scene, and it is pretty good. The production is sweet and it's fast.

I find a lot of cool stuff I instantly forget about simply by searching “Atmospheric Black Metal” on YouTube, clickin a link, and going to sleep.......

Man, I will definitely have to get this album. Its a hybrid of death and black metal, (not pure black) but man.... reminds me of Myrkskog, in a very very good way.

I find a lot of cool stuff I instantly forget about simply by searching “Atmospheric Black Metal” on YouTube, clickin a link, and going to sleep....... this is basically my life. I'm finding less and less time to listen to black metal simply because more than not it makes me sleepy and i just fall asleep in the middle of an album.

what do you even cal this variant of black metal? I just call it esoteric black metal Listening to a few samples, I would call it "black/death/doom".

Oh man. There's 2 albums coming out in October that I'm really looking forward to. I'm curious about something. What did you think of 1349's albums, post-Hellfire? I thought the idea of adding atmospheric stuff was cool, but I guess people were expecting more hyper-fast music, and the albums got a lot of criticism.

I thought the idea of adding atmospheric stuff was cool, but I guess people were expecting more hyper-fast music, and the albums got a lot of criticism. It was only the 2008 "Revelations of the Black Flame" album that was that way. 2005 Hellfire was a staple, and they were back to that style for Demonoir in 2010 and haven't been back to that "mistake". I did NOT like RotBF, and not because of the ambient/industrial elements, but because it didn't have their usual speed/fury.

I picked up Marduk's Viktoria recently.
When I FIRST heard this album when it released, I wasn't impressed with it. The Werwolf lyric is super basic track - basic enough to be a pile of "meh". The official music video for Viktora, there's some "meh" worthy riffs in there, with some decent riffs. I avoided this release for a long time just because of these 2 songs.
The rest of the tracks on the album? Quite good actually. There's still some basic repetition to wade through, but I'm enjoying it now.
While I don't understand why a band, puts the two dumpiest tracks as their premiere, better late than never on discovering good music I guess...

I love how this thread went from "lackluster black metal" to "really good black metal." Me too actually. This thread started out of frustration that when I looked for new music, I couldn't anything I fell in love with. Like how a forum should be, people made recommendations and I was able to post new music I really liked. I can't think of a better thread turnout than starting out as a "problem" and ending up being solution after solution.

Unanswerable Hatred - Hateful Lycanthrocidal CursesI don't know how to feel about this. It claims to be "anti-racist" but I feel the quote on the right side of the page is a little "excessive"? Anyway, the music sounds great, and in a rare moment, it lives up to its own hype - this is BRIMMING with hatred.

It's a quote from the author James Baldwin, if that gives any context.
