I was going to just post this to the noise thread but I didn't want to take away from that conversation with the addition of non-noise ambient stuff. Anyways, I listen to some ambient/drone/experimental (Stars Of The Lid, Brian Eno, Jonsi & Alex, Hiss Tracts, Deru, and Tim Hecker come to my mind). Today I've been listening to The Disintegration Loops by William Basinski. The story of these albums I found pretty interesting and it reminded me of some of the posts in the noise thread, so I thought I'd share. thevociferator, I feel like you would appreciate the tape bit. The below is from the Wikipedia page about the albums: The Disintegration Loops is a series of four albums by American avant-garde composer William Basinski released in 2002 and 2003. All tracks have the same form of ambient music fragments played in a tape loop that slowly deteriorates as it passes by the tape head, increasingly producing noises and cracks in the music as the theme progresses. The recording coincided with the 9/11 attacks and the album covers and accompanying videos feature a still skyline of New York City with smoke and dust rising from the World Trade Center site. While we're here, does anyone know good Christian ambient projects?

Some stuff on this album I did back in 2014 might be of interest to some here. I guess it could be classified as drone/noise/ambient/black-industrial, depending on the track. Here's two of the tracks that would fit this particular topic, I guess.

I was going to write something, but wait, you already made ambient music. You sent it to me to upload to YouTube. What are you going for here exactly?

Word. More like how to create/record higher quality stuff.

I guess most people use FL Studio, but I can never be bothered to learn how to use that. Seems to work well for a lot of other people though I just use my keyboard. It's easier (no programming necessary), and it was comparatively cheap.

Word. More like how to create/record higher quality stuff. I´ve started with FL studio, then started recording real instruments and edited them the way I´ve liked. But today I mostly use a midi keyboard with hq vst´s like (kontakt & engine libraries) and the few instruments I have

I made this from recordings and some recording edits. I didn't include any acoustic or electronic instrumentation. I'm wondering if I should try to make more ambient/drone/noise.

It's interesting, for sure. I'm just a bit confused by it, I guess. Parts of it seem to indicate that this is like a field recording of sorts (the constant wind/water sounds, I think I heard birds at a couple points, etc) but then there are looped / distorted sounds that sound like they're meant to replicate electronic music. It's not bad at all, I'm just not really sure what you're trying to accomplish with it.

Not bad at all, i´m not in the right mindset right now for this kind of music but it´s nice. I know a few poepl who´d really like this. Also here´s one of my experimentations from a few months ago THIS.

Ambient Noise Drone Productions. It seems Kenneth Holsen wants to separate his music a bit, Naorg being for metal and harsh noise, and this new label for - as the name implies - ambient/noise/drone music. Also, I suppose Uppsala Ubåtsflottilj could fit here. A new project of Emil Lundin (Reverorum ib Malacht, etc). A bit on the "electronic" side, musically, but very "ambient" in terms of atmosphere and impact. I like it a lot personally. Edit: Okay, I did forget about the blastbeat in the later half of the second track, lol. Well, anyway.

Ravnevarg - New project from Kenneth Nattesorg! I would call it "drone metal", but there are no drums. Interesting anyway!
