I got an email notification from Bandcamp saying that Vision Of God Records released a new album by Alstadt who I've never heard of them before. They sound like something that could've been released on EEE back in the day of Flaskavsae and such. visionofgodrecords.bandcamp.com/album/alstadt-rest-these-woods-of-solitudeI know absolutely nothing about them but they don't sound too bad.

It's one of [redacted]'s projects. Doesn't sound bad at all But I tend to prefer his more experimental stuff like [redacted] or [redacted]

I've ordered some multiple copies to distribute in the EU. Expect them to arrive within 2 weeks.

Climes of Northern Sorrow available now from VOGR. Very intentionally raw but beautiful. The bass is not only audible, but also adds a dimension to black metal that I don't normally hear. There seems to be more of a hardcore vibe to some of the songs while, overall, staying very true to an underground black metal aesthetic. I like it better than the first album and it hasn't left my ear very often since it was released. I highly recommend this to you, black metal fan. Support the artist and VOGR.

For all you Discogs junkies: I added this release. Feel free to add to your collection now. I gave it 5 stars. SO GOOD! Favorite tracks: "Trial That Burns To Dissolve All The Dross" and "Triumphant Victory Procession".

I read this thread awhile back and thought "Really? Alstadt is getting this much praise?" At that time I had only sampled a little of the first album and it didn't grab me. After reading this, I went and listened to the second album and it blew me away! "Climes of Northern Sorrow" is fantastic. Favorite tracks are "Trial that Burns to Dissolve All the Dross" and "Hope for the Healing" (what a variety).
