I can't help it, but I had to open such a thread. I recently (and accidentally) found this output:
Deathspell Omega - The synarchy of molten bones
No matter how experienced you are, you don't get access to this (in my humble opinion) masterpiece with one listen (frankly speaking, I listened to it 15 or more times now and it is still no easy stuff). Funnily enough this is actually not the type of Black Metal I like much, but I can't resist to hear this album again and again. It's a bit like a car accident you pass, but you cannot resist to slow your drive and look over there. This album was a starter for me to dig deeper in the black metal developments of the last ten or so years. Was kind of refreshing.
Somebody who took the time to dive deep into music and lyrics, wrote the following (not referring to "Synarchy of molten bones" though):
Deathspell Omega's trilogy has changed the face of Black Metal
One interesting analysis (from some undergrad in university) compared DsO's "philosophy" with an ancient Indian philosophy called Carvaka Darsana:
And here is one of the ultra-rare interviews with one of their guys:
The whole Deathspell Omega project obviously goes far beyond that childish Odin / Satan / Anti-Christian / Whatever stuff that 95% of evil black metal bands publish. From an analytical standpoint it doesn't seem to be something like a walk in the park, though. But my gut feeling says that this is exactly the audience that a Christian black metal band should have in sight when it comes to the kind of "confrontation" that I talked of in the CBM lyrics thread. This topic will consume a lot of my time
