.I think it would be on its place to mention this once great band.
Riding to Ruin will always remind of Summoning:
Also their newer stuff from Ewiges Licht and Five are great songs too.
Does anyone know what happened to Ash? I never followed to story. All I know is that some of their music will always accompany me wherever I am.

Sh*t man. I think I need to get this on tape released once. All their earlier demo stuff. Now listening to 'Awaken in the Land of Dreams' ep. Very awesome.

You can say "shit" here. It won't sensor it. Ash was a HUGE fan of Summoning so yes, his music was going to reflect that. As apparent from his newer tracks, he also liked dark/techno music - like Blutengel and Unhellig. As far as how he died - it was over a year ago. Someone said something about lung cancer, but then his sister said that wasn't true. I'm not sure what happened to him.

I heard it was a long sickness of some sort. Tragic no matter the cause, but he is in the presence of Almighty God now.

Ash had a brother in the band who i remember was a fairly active member on the old Blabber Board, so it should be possible to get there albums re-released if he can be found.
Opus Majestic - The Pain of God Sword of Fire US based, Opus Majestic deliver an amazing emotional atmosphere here. A slow to mid-paced impressive throne of riffery sweeps with mournful like somber winter winds, enhanced with alot of regal flavoured, major role playing keys. Together with solid bass and skins section they approach with massive charismatic, melodic, noble and glorious arrangements that build up tension and momentum, sheathed in majestic ambience.
A feeling of sadness permeates most of the 48:43 long cd, conjuring up a deep holy grief or some personal painful loss and leads dreamerly into the heart of an imaginary midnight forest or such. "Of fire and holy smoke" is creatively interesting as it comes to a drawn out gentle edgy yet eerie ending, kind of reaching out beyond the forest into the starlit nebula above, vanquishing all unrest.
Most of the 4 tracks are very dreamy and reflectful and some times faster, like parts of the title track, which lacks any keys, opting for the twin guitar layering. This 12+ minute unmistakable brillant piece is a grand way to end the cd. The vocals hold a strong mid range shriek that suits the unhurried ungimmicky sound, while the lyrics cry out to the Most High for freedom and strength and also reverance truth and prophecy. I think this cd deserves a much better cover, a grim detailed illustration of a forest scene and more, plus the logo more defined.
Truely a great Unblack metal offering. Hoping for more. Review by DrawnsworD (July 30 - 2008)

I'm pretty confident that the O.M. song "Of Fire And Holy Smoke" off the Awaken In The Land of Dreams EP was one of the first unblack metal songs I ever heard. I was really lucky to come upon someone selling that album on eBay a few months back, and listening to it means that much more today.

IT WAS NOT CANCER but I believe it did have to do with his lungs. I think it is safe to say we all miss him.
