(I hope there is no such thread yet. Found none...)
This is for talking about games, like RPGs or the good old board game to play against your grandmother (or your cat).
Really anything about those kind of stuff.
So... A few days ago when it started to rain quite a bit here I became drawn again towards storys of the mysterious and uncanny... urban legends, ghost stories, you name it. And I remembered this game "Don't walk in Winter Wood" ("Geh nicht in den Winterwald" in german), which is available via a small publishing company which has translated some of the RPG stuff I play into german. Since "Don't walk in Winter Wood" is really affordable in price I decided to buy it. The game has very little rules so you don't have to read like 500 pages before getting even started. Very slim in rules. The idea behind the game is to create an interactive horror tale. The place of action is america in the 18. century, some small village far off, surrounded by a scary wood (who would have guessed? It is called "Winter Wood") about which a lot of weird and sinister tales are about. And nobody ought to go there. For some reason (again: who would have thought!) the players have to go there to solve some mystery and so the story begins... One difference to other rpgs is, that you talk about your character in third person and past. Instead of "I try to open the door of the old house" it's like "Peter tried to..." which makes the feeling a more story-esque one.
I purchased the printed book + pdf file, but for some stupid reason I forbade myself to look at the pdf before I got the real book. I am really really excited about this stuff and hope it is as good as I think.
