This would be under the "Gift" category. A special treat from me, to you guys!
I recorded this in 2001. There's nothing "black metal" about this, its very technical in-your-face death metal.
The lyrics are Christian and for a short period of time, Cross Rhythm's Music (later called Blastbeats) and RadRockers were the only places to carry copies of the album.
Akryal - Cimerian Lethargy
Track 1 - Destructive Amelioration
Track 2 - Impudent Demimondane
Track 3 - Ambivalence
Track 4 - Sanguine Aeon
Track 5 - Remnescent Exoneration
Track 6 - Impious Seraph
Its an EP, with under a 20 minute runtime. The CDs were 2 panel, color and shrink wrapped, released by Nascent Frost Productions. The guy who ran than unfortunately completely disappeared (the start of my bad experience with labels) and I had 50 copies. Cross Rhythm's Music pulled it off their shelves once Alan Tregoning (he was also in the Christian death metal band Oblation) figured out one of the songs "Destructive Amelioration" was about him.
I didn't like that he (I thought) openly slammed GRiM - Scepter of Blood because of its "poor production" (sound quality), even though that release was one of his top 10 sellers at one point in time. Water under the bridge. I wish he could here my music now. *coughs*bannerinsignature*coughs*
Here's a breakdown of the lyrics and other trivia bits.
Track 1 - About that criticism, rebutting it and asking God to help me through it
Track 2 - About my first girlfriend, who I broke up with when I found out she'd already slept with a loooooooooot of people and asking God for someone who's meant for me.
Track 3 - Dealing with depression and asking God to help me get through it
Track 4 - Blood of Christ song. Starts out - "Precious Blood, the sacrifice of our Lord, Salvation, Redemption, the debt is paid for all and for all to come."
Track 5 - Forgiving others and not judge
Track 6 - Typical old-school "crush the head" of Satan type of song.
My guitar was tuned B, E, A, D, F#, B
Distortion, DOD death metal pedal
Guitar - Gibson Epiphone G310
Drums were my brother's mutt kit - recorded out in the garage.
Uh. What else. Grandma came over and interrupted me recording track 2 to tell me dinner was ready. Had to do another take. AAAHAHAHAHA!!!
I asked Crystal Dynamics for permission to use the sound clips. (From Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen - Tracks 4 and 6)
I'm listening to this and I think my blast was faster then than it is now, just by a little? I can't quite tell, but I think it is. If anyone wants to compare, I might obsess about it for a little bit. : /
Frickin' enjoy Akryal - Cimmerian Lethargy guys!!!
