Added a plugin. Next to to the "like" button (which is the thumbs up), there's now a LOL button (which is a smiley face) What its used for is for posts that make you laugh. You can LOL at them instead of "like" them. Seems more applicable to a post, right? Yay?

If you're like me and quote just pieces of something someone says, I installed a plugin that will make that much easier. Anytime you highlight text, you'll see a "Quick Quote" button. When that's pressed, it will automatically put just that text in the quick reply box. (at the bottom of every page)
Cool, huh?

Rather than make a new thread for every new simple feature installed, I'll just compile them into this thread.

Added font formatting and smiles to quick reply.

Awesome; thanks dude! That quick reply quote option is pretty cool. I've never seen that! One option I really like is the multi-quote option to quote multiple people in one reply, rather than quoting then copying/pasting into another reply. Is that something we can do?

Quick quote is going to come in handy a lot. And Kerrick, if I'm understanding you correctly, you can do that now. Just quote one person with the "quick quote" button, then quote the next person. Both quotes will appear in the quick reply box.

I've always done it the hard way. Quote one person. Cut it. Quote the next. Repeat. LOL

Quick Quoting guests is a cluster. Sorry for the required editing, but I still think its easier. [mr1]

Not really a feature for the forum, but I got a list of Reanimated Radio showtimes that POSSIBLY feature black metal, or at least extreme metal.

Hey Thomas, is there a way for the birthdays to show on the homepage without clicking to see? Obviously it's not too important, but I think we'd notice more people's birthdays if that was a feature. It's Deepfriar's birthday today by the way. (I saw on Facebook haha.)

I've been racking my brain regarding how to do this. I could easily add this information in (manually) at the bottom of the forum. (like where the reanimated radio banner is)
That would require knowing people's birthdays though. (not like the CMR where the board does it from accounts created)

Well Proboards does have birthday information from the users' profiles but it's just not displayed in a manner that people will notice. You have to click to see, whereas with Forumotion it's all there at the bottom of the homepage which I like. Again, not anything too critical.

Next time I get on my laptop, I'll check and see if there's a plugin I could use...

The only applicable plugin will send a pop-up happy birthday message to individual users on their birthday... but nothing resembling a forum announcement. [facepalm1]

^CHM does that and it's kinda cute but certainly not necessary. Oh well, thanks for looking!

Man, I really wish I could find or make a "praying for you" icon. Like the LOL button that would add an extra thing to a post without actually making another post...
As admin, I have access to build plugins, but its way over my head on exactly how to do it...

As admin, I have access to build plugins, but its way over my head on exactly how to do it... Do mods have access to this (and if we don't, could you grant it to me)? I could try experimenting a little bit and might be able to make something work.

It's not a bad idea... though at least for me, if I'm in particular need for prayer, I'd find it much more encouraging to see people write out that they're praying for me instead of just an icon. There's just something more personal and intimate that way. Instead of a thing for prayer, maybe a "hug" icon or something equivalent would be a better fit? I dunno, just thinking out loud [er, through the keyboard haha].

I get what you're saying Kerrick. I agree. Replying certainly does have more sentiment... ...but there might be people who may not have time to reply or don't know what to say, a prayer button would be a better indicator of who's praying for whom. Do mods have access to this (and if we don't, could you grant it to me)? I could try experimenting a little bit and might be able to make something work. I just gave you and Kerrick both access to plugins. That system is in the "admin" button (between "profile" and "members"). You'll want to go into the "build" section. Please don't make any change to the existing plugins (you shouldn't have to mess with them) and if you create something that jacks up the format of the forum, please delete it ASAP. (which should put the forum back to what it was) Good luck! I'll try to check more in on this myself.

I just took a look at it. It goes over my head too. If there's a way for me to see the code for the LOL button, I might be able to replicate it for the prayer button.

I don't know much about this kind of thing, but does this help at all?
<a class="button LOL-button" id="LOL-12612" style="height: 15px; padding-top: 2px;" role="button"><img src="//storage.proboards.com/6153878/images/t6655OtaoQ6Sl7IvrEn5.png"></a>
It's the HTML code for the LOL button.

LOL. Did you just pull that from the page source? Great idea nonetheless. Never thought of trying to put that in the plugins build section... but my assumption is that there's more to it than just that. (that coding is just the image and link tags. There's got to be more coding regarding functionality.) This build feature needs to have some building tools. Right now, its purely a "from scratch" thing with nothing to interact with whatsoever apart from blank fields to enter in the needed code. The LOL button requires a "key" as well. Not sure how they play in regards to plugin creation / forum interactivity, but I need to get on the Proboards forum and ask for help. I had a login for there at one time, but I can't remember it for the life of me. Might just have to create a new one. EDIT: Created a new login and made a post asking for help. support.proboards.com/thread/611955/help-creating-pluginFishing for information like this is hit or miss - hopefully it would be something really useful. It would be nice if someone liked that idea and made it themselves, (like the Post LOL button), that way, all I'd have to do is download and install the plugin.

I know people have "LOLed" at a few of my posts before, but they don't seem to show up in my notifications. Just likes/quotes/tags. Are we actually supposed to get notifications for LOL reactions? (If not, then functionality shouldn't be too much of an issue for a new button, too.)

No LOL notifications. Its pretty much an extra if you're viewing the forum through a browser. (using Tapatalk, I don't see LOL and can't LOL either)
That's ok with me. Pretty much have a "something is better than nothing" attitude regarding this.

Well, the only reply is paragraphs of stuff about how keys work and I don't have an effin' clue as to what it means.
