I'll tell you what I'm REALLY looking forward to (in the world of video games): Horizon: Zero Dawn (PS4 exclusive title from Guerilla Games, makers of the Killzone franchise). You guys seen any info on it yet? Man, it looks so good. I haven't spent full price for a brand new game in a while, but I'm considering it at the end of February for this game.

That Horizon game looks a bit like an evolved Monster Hunter game! I have yet to get a current generation console system. I'm not really interested too much in any of the games, except Dark Souls 3, but I'm not going to drop coin on a PS4 just for that. I may not seem like it, but I'm extremely picky when it comes to games anymore. ...and even then, I usually only play games to a certain capacity. (ie: Skyrim, I can't STAND quests or talking to people, but I enjoy exploring, grinding and wielding big swords) Plus, I've found it really inconvenient to be stuck, stationary in front of a TV to play a game. Handheld really appeals to me because I can play anywhere. Work. Outside. In front of the TV while watching a show. Also, I can only play for 30 seconds at a time if I want to - it would take that long for a console just to boot up. Ire: Blood Memory definitely scratches my itch. Apart from its similarities to Dark Souls, there's also a lot of resemblances to Monster Hunter. (where the gear makes the player and different gear works better in different situations) The devs have been on vacation (back January 2nd) and there's talk on Discord about another update/expansion in a couple weeks. There's been talk of a "samurai" based expansion... but I think its still considered a rumor. How do you guys do on PVP? I don't do it a whole lot, but I've grown to like that its "just for fun", without any real penalty for losing. Apart from minor achievements and the system bragging your win streak in chat, there's no real perks to win either. Its a nice, no strings attached, way to have a friendly clash with other players. Losing a fight doesn't mean bad skill, because specialized gear plays a decent part as well. Usually I just do 1 fight for fun or 3 for the daily challenge, but today I tried to see how many wins I could get in a row. God I love my sword.

I don't mess with pvp much, still trying to get all my gear upgraded. One of my armors is S max with a few other S lvl 2-3ish and I have one A max piece of gear left, boots I think. My question is this: should I work on getting ALL my armor to S max first or should I upgrade my sword to S+? I'm thinking sword, but I'd like you guys' opinion.

Really it's 6 of one thing, half a dozen of another. Either way, whether you upgrade armor first or weapon, you'll notice improvement.
Myself, I'd get the weapon to S+ and then S MAX your armor before getting the weapon to lvl2. ...but that's just me.
More often than not, it depends on what shards I have. Upgrading S+ equipment is harder on shards than gold, so I'd switch to upgrading armor if I was low on weapon shards and vise versa.

Did you guys get the notifications for 300,000 gold and an S weapon? I missed them BOTH while I was sleeping. What a bummer!

Gave me a chance to test out Ire support. (Because I thought I made the S weapon one in time) Not only did they get back with me super fast, but they also took an interest in Orationem. I missed both fair and square and they said "Our moderators are planning more events so don't be disappointed!" Super cool guys.

I got the S weapon but it was crap. That's okay I'm using it to upgrade my Night Sword.

There you go! I've decided to make some changes to my armor. I'm tired of wind melting my face off, so I invested in some Pelorus gloves. It works with my fashion souls, so its a go. (Currently Slvl3, won't equip until S+) My Lyrius Cuirass only has 3 slots. I'm going to switch it out for a nice 6 slot Klaus Cuirass I got. Its got decent flame resistance too. Its S as well, but again, I won't equip it until I can get it to S+ Also... a pretty common haul of ores to sell. I rarely have an issue with gold... its weapon/armor shards that I'm always short on...

Currently still grinding for S+ sword. Bosses aren't wanting to drop materials for compositing weapon. I hear ya. spent two days trying for a couple Blood of the Wounds. Ended up snagging one out of the Black Market, still waiting on another.......argh. Rifthound sword currently at S2, Mortal Sword at S.......kinda dreading the process, but......I.........MUST.......HAVE.........

Man, blood of the wounds and tear of the wounds drop like candy from high level world bosses. (Lvl90+) My incapacitate skill is decent so it's 2 carves every boss fight... I got so many of the damn things I end up selling some.
Anymore, I only fight Munin, Prowler and Lyrius and use the free 24 hour lvl down to keep them right below their max level. Ironically, Prowler is the hardest of the bunch for me now... he's got decent night res.

Looks like NG+2 4-4 is a good place to grind shards. B level drop frequently, and more C drop than D.....also looks like you run by chests about 1/3 of the time.......

Post by exo on Jan 8, 2017 1:07:04 GMT -6
90 minutes or so of echo netted me approximately 30 B shards and 200 C shards of each type, but only 70 total D shards. Also 35k gold, but the ore count was very low. Probably not hitting as many chests as I thought....

|
Post by Thomas Eversole on Jan 8, 2017 15:20:53 GMT -6
I've since figured out that echo CAN hit all 3 box locations on 3-1 by itself. I say "can" because in some instances, they can be missed if echo gets off its normal track through the stage. (like if an invader shows up and the character ends up elsewhere on the map, or enemies spawn early for some reason and walk away from the chest) On NG3, its some pretty sweet drops. B and A Gold ores (not a D or C in sight!) net some pretty sweet cash, but the occasional A weapon/armor shards are a real treat. B shards are fairly common, but C shards and B&A ores are probably the most common. That stage is pretty short and meadowmen are slow, so its a solid productive run. So far, the best bet for me to get good shards to forge equipment with are from world bosses. A grade shards are VERY common, sometimes I'll get S ones. One of the guys on discord did the math. 4 D shards = 1 C shard. 4 C shards = 1 B shard, and so forth. Its also WAAAAYYYY cheaper (in gold) to forge with higher weapon/armor shards. My Lyrius Cuirass only has 3 slots. I'm going to switch it out for a nice 6 slot Klaus Cuirass I got. Its got decent flame resistance too. Its S as well, but again, I won't equip it until I can get it to S+ Scratch that idea! I got THE BEST pull from the complimentary draw in the shop. (You know, the one that's free every 24 hours or 2,000 gold for each additional pull) - my last pull I got a B grade Lyrius Cuirass with 5 SLOTS. I screamed at my phone (in joy) when I got that. I'll make it S+ and swap out my current S+ Lyrius Cuirass (which only has 3 slots) after I finish working on this also-awesome 5 slot Klaus helm I picked up. The Lyrius has better wind res and poise than the Klaus Cuirass I was going to use. FINALLY got a dust key. Haven't used it yet though. I imagine that I would die fairly quickly, despite watching YouTube videos of pros beating him without using a lifestick...

Haha I'd say Dust would, well, dust the floor with me lol. I still can't even beat Deeper Shadow Soldier... What are recommended resistances and attacks for him?
I have been farming NG3 1-3... Bonus for blade and scavenge, and it hits scavenge chest nearly every time I'm pretty sure. I'm making good progress. Just need another tear and a few ambers to get my sword to S+.

Haha I'd say Dust would, well, dust the floor with me lol. I still can't even beat Deeper Shadow Soldier... What are recommended resistances and attacks for him? Wind! If you have wind resistance, you will OWN him. I tried beating him solo myself and got smoked... whereas if I bring 2 boons, he sometimes dies before I can even carve him. One thing this game is like Monster Hunter about is its very easy to tell either boss weakness, or how to defend against their attack. Shadow Soldier (everyone on discord calls him SS) drops Fume weapons. If you get a D rank weapon from the deep SS, and look at its stats, you'll notice its attack is wind. (drops reflect the monster) Strategy wise, if you see him stick his weapons into his flesh, GET AWAY FROM HIM!!! He's about to punch the ground and send a extremely powerful wind shockwave. I've had no problem trading hits with his regular attacks. Deeper faint will probably be a challenge for you as well - he was for me before I S+'ed my armor. What works good against him? Well, looking at this B grade helm he dropped for me, it has pretty high wind resistance. (in the 700's) Second highest, night resistance. Flame resistance is considerably lower and lightning resistance is the lowest. (only 115) Wanna melt Faint's face off? Bring a lightning weapon. (I do just fine with my Night Sword against him though, especially if one of my boons brings a lightning weapon) Man, blood of the wounds and tear of the wounds drop like candy from high level world bosses. Not joking bros. Even level 80 world bosses commonly drop bloods and tears. Also, I confused a few people on discord when I posted this. I got my Pelorus gloves to S+ and now my element resistances are pretty close to even. (wind was my weakness before) It might be tempting to sell S+ gear you're not going to use anymore, but because of this Its also WAAAAYYYY cheaper (in gold) to forge with higher weapon/armor shards. ...its much better to disassemble for that shard. I forged my A grade Klaus Helm with this shard. 1 S+ armor shard brought it from level 1 to level 4 instantly. Cost in gold to forge? 32,000. I forged today's attendance reward (A armor) from level 1 to level 4 using just A and B shards. Cost in gold to forge? Over 100,000...

All good points, and yeah I've noticed the exponential increase in cost if you use lower grade shards. I'll take a look at my wind resistance later. I could have sworn I had decent, fire is my lowest. I might need to just finish upping all my armor to S max, I still have some yet to upgrade.

The good thing about the Ire is you can be nosy and freely look at the stats of anyone else in the game. Good job having your elemental resistances pretty even across the board!
Your wind resistance is fine for where you're at bro. Actually, I was regularly taking down deeper SS when I had 1k less wind resistance than what you have now. I think the difference between us is 1) how you play / strategy 2) how useful the boons are that you're bringing with you. Deeper SS is challenging, but practice makes a pretty big difference.
Remember how I said before I couldn't beat deeper Lyrius for the longest time? Now, I can take him down only using 2-3 lifesticks. My gear hasn't changed much since I first started fighting him - the biggest difference is studying the boss's body language and now knowing when to play defensively and when to trade hits. I can't rely on boons in this fight - Lyrius kills them before half his life is gone... (not to mention, when 3/4ths of his life is gone, he summons Pale (a grey colored Lyrius) which definitely increases the seriousness of the fight.
Exo is catching up to your level! I know you two aren't officially racing to lvl70 (the current cap) but I do find myself comparing your characters. LOL
I'm actually very thrilled that you and Exo are still playing the game. I'm glad I'm not the only one from this forum enjoying the Ire! ______________________
Dodge shards OMG. Better late than never to figure this out, but I've since figured out even having 2 B grade dodge shards embedded in my equipment makes rolling through attacks WAY easier. (these shards extend the number of invincibility frames when you dodge)
Its official. The discord mods have stated that the devs are working on the guild for the next update. (that coming soon building next to the echo button) I'm pretty excited to see what the guild features/benefits will be!

Yeah I'm excited also to see how they implement guild features.
Thanks yeah I tried to get my resists up, I had terrible fire resist for the longest time but I've fixed it a little bit. I'm very proud to say I have 50% resist to poison, stun, and curse now too. And yeah I probably just need to study deeper SS more, only tried him a couple times.
That's VERY interesting to know what those dodge shards do! I have one in my gear, I'll see about upgrading it ASAP.

All my effect resistances are in their 20's. (except stun res which is 0%) HAHA!!! Stun and curse got nerfed this last update (shorter duration) so... meh... I encountered a player in Hunt (where you fight their character as an NPC) that had a Rifthouse Burst lance. He must have had that thing gemmed with additional burst shards because... I was literally poked twice and sent flying, I got pushed into a corner and 2-poked to flying again before I could even stand up. Repeat until I died. LOL Luckily, that's not the norm. The good thing about this game is you can customize based on what you encounter, at your leisure. I was having repeated problems in the past with invaders/pvp'ers wielding wind or lightning weapons, and since my resistances were low for those at the time, they'd cut right through me. Nothing that a few shards and swapping out armor can't fix. I assure you, if I was getting stunlocked daily, I'd be getting my stun res to 100%!

I just updated the update notes and it sounds like they MIGHT take one of my suggestions! One really good thing about discord is the feedback section, the mods send every suggestion to the devs. I asked for rift passes to be for sale in the black market. Got my new helmet to S+! It lowered a few of my resistances, but made my Night resistance epic. Oh well. Fashion Souls FTW!!! Haha!

Oh wow those updates sound very cool! I'm glad they are doing something with mileage and making boss drops better. Very cool! I'll be level 67 in the next day or so, if not tonight. Both of you guys are neck and neck. I'll admit, when you both started out, I didn't expect much contribution because of the level difference... but now, you're just like the rest of my boons. I've even had you guys survive lvl90+ Lyrius fights. I wonder if I have enough S level equipment that NG3 2-1 is gonna stop kicking my butt yet..... 2-1 is Meadowmen and you've got decent wind resistance... you shouldn't have a problem. Meadowmen are in the groups of enemies that I always BLOCK their attacks instead of trying to ROLL through their swings. (EDIT: Just saw you only have 9% in your HP max skill. You'll have a MUCH easier time if you get that skill above 50%. Next time you go to your boon list, look at my HP. HP MAX is probably THE most important skill you can have.) You guys know the easiest way to tell what element the minions are, right? When you get hit, there's numbers indicating the amount of damage. If the numbers are blue, you got hit by wind. Red is fire. Grey is night. Yellow is lightning. White is mortal/physical. Wait until you run into Nir the Loyal on NG3. (huge white/lightning lion) Oh my gawd, I thought I'd never beat him. I think clearing the last half of NG3 for me, I only played during blessing, always brought a boon, and sometimes had to spend 20 gems to continue. You guys are a high enough level - you having any luck with the expansion? S/S+ level gear takes soooooo much time.....LOL I had someone have a ?!?!??? reaction when I disassembled my old S+ equips when I found something better. They said, "Well, what are you going to do when the new equipment tier comes out and you need 2 S+ to make it?" My response - "If I need another piece of S+ to get to S++, I'll just make it from scratch. It only takes a few days. " One of the perks of echoing NG3 3-1. Some pretty awesome drops sometimes from replaying that short stage.

I don't have any problems with expansion, just have to use a revive. Morgan actually isn't that hard, easy to dodge, plus my main weapon is Night. I haven't gotten a good drop yet, though. If I get a decent B or A weapon with good # of slots I'll probably start leveling it up as a backup weapon.
