Alright gents, we're diving fast into the trifecta of holiday madness. I like to stop and slow down and remember that the last Thursday in November isn't just turkey day, but a special time to reflect on what we have to be grateful for. Don't stop from posting because you don't want to make a list - please come to the table even if you have just one thing you can think of right now. Maybe your life is hell and one thing to be grateful for is all you have right now - well post it! 2016 has been a trial for me fighting cancer, and even I can think of some things I'm happy to have going for me in my life. Don't be afraid to keep this thread going past Thanksgiving either. I'll start. _________________________ I'm grateful for God, that He is the foundation in my life. I'm thankful to be alive. Not everyone emerges out from underneath stage 3 rectal cancer. Its the #2 killer of adult men. I'm grateful to be able to make some good music, even if I am also my biggest fan/nerd. So glad to have a good relationship with my family. I'm grateful I don't have to worry about money. I have a small not list as well. I'm grateful that I'm not: - in a wheelchair - in a hospital - in jail - hungry/in need of food That's all I can think of now. I plan on posting more later as I think of it.

Oh! Man am I so glad I don't have a poopsack anymore. The 3 months I had that thing, before I got the reversal surgery done, we're awful!

Not to cheap out on listing things......but EVERYTHING. I've got an incredibly family, a roof over my head, a decent job with amazing co-workers, the ability to purchase frivolous things (all those guitars? FRIVOLITY, no matter how much I love them).........life is GOOD, even with all the stress over the last few months.
I'm thankful for ALL of it.

I didn't have anything non-cliche to say, so that's why I didn't post.

I think one of the reasons my post count is so high is because I see posting as a challenge. While it wouldn't be horrible if everyone thanked their God and family, the challenge would be to think of something different to be grateful for. The more overlooked, the better.
I know some of our members here are hesitant to publicly state personal information about themselves. That's another challenge aspect. How do you say something different without being too personal?
Especially regarding gratitude, I think this is a good exercise for anyone.
I'm grateful I'm scheduled to work tomorrow. I'm tired of being sick at home and want to go do something that helps other people.

I'm grateful for all of the guidance God has given me, and continues to give me. And for all the ways that God is basically willing to work with me in my life. For how intelligent I like to tell myself I am, God sure has to guide me with small enough baby steps, lol Going off of that, I'm also grateful that God continues to be so patient with me. I'm grateful that I have a house to live in and food to eat. I'm grateful for this forum - both because I like talking to you guys, and also because I have a place where I can fanboy over extreme Christian music and talk about the seemingly endless information I've gathered on the scene. Few, if any, would care on the other sites I use. I'm grateful that Jesus died for us and that God will let us live with Him in eternal peace. I'm also grateful for Revelation 21:4I'm grateful that God made me so... "weird", and that I can reach out to, and help, other "weird" people, whom a lot of others can't relate to / understand. I'm sure there's more I could add.

I'm grateful that God made me so... "weird", ↑ this! ...and of course I'm grateful for this forum. I'd just be talking to myself if it weren't for you guys. LOL I'm so happy I had an awesome day at work and trip to the gym. A lot of people where I work can't seem to wait to run out the door. I feel like I'm definitely not there enough.

I'm thankful for: Christ and salvation through him, family, friends, job, commute, house, music, this forum and the community here, albums I was able to get this year, health, hot tea, iced tea, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Christmas music, family members who trust in Christ, church, Philip Glass, Arvo Pärt and that I was able to hear one of his pieces live this year, freedom to worship, always having the opportunity to learn something new, having enough to eat (and wonderful things to eat), new challenges and places to grow, a few days off work, working vehicles, having a yard and garden, great coworkers, having family in the area, a place to minister . . .

Awesome post. Is your tea sweet or unsweetened? I prefer sans sugar. I can taste the tea better!

For iced tea: unsweetened. I've rarely liked sweetened iced tea. Like you, I want to taste the tea!
For hot tea: milk and sugar. I'd fit right in in the UK. Brentrance anyone?
Also, I'm thankful for my computer, electricity, and indoor plumbing.

My wife likes a little tea with her sugar.
High quality toilet paper... something I never thought anything about until rectal cancer. So grateful for high quality toilet paper.

Well to be fair, indoor plumbing and toilet paper are definitely things we take for granted, haha

Speaking of taking things for granted, peeing is still an ordeal for me... but at least I CAN pee.

Hey! Sorry I'm a little late to the game. It's been a pretty busy Thanksgiving weekend and such but what a great one (epic hike with family, walks on beaches, great food, awesome church, beautiful drive along the coast...). Anyways, here are some of the things I am grateful for: -Salvation through Christ - even though I don't deserve it -My beautiful wife and the gift of marriage -That my wife's visa paperwork all went through fine and that she's here legally -My spectacular and loving family and that they're so close by -Some of the best friends anyone could ask for -The gorgeous area I live in -The freedom to worship without fear of persecution, access to God's Word -Not needing to worry about my basic needs (food, water, a place to sleep...) -Good health -A pretty good and stable job -A car that works (as ugly as it may be hahahaha) -And so much more...

So maybe the whole "Thanksgiving holiday" thing is done for the year.....but it is never past season for a thankful and grateful heart.
I can deal with snow just fine when it's on the ground. While it's falling and accumulating? No, I almost twitch with stress about dealing with it, and working thirds and comin home not knowing if I can get in the driveway because of the massive mound the city plows may or may not have pushed into it driving by. Like SERIOUSLY bad, stressy mental mess.
Forecast for yesterday and today at 7:30 pm was 3 inches of snow overnight, and another 4 during the day today.
20 miles west of here has 4-6 inches. We got half an inch. I can still see grass blades everywhere, and the forecasted projection for today changed overnight to another half an inch or so.
Is it a small thing I have no control over? Yup.
Am I just STUPIDLY grateful about it? You better believe it!

Nice. Snow is beautiful, though its hell on vehicles. I get blocked in by snow plows too.
Everything is still clear in my area, and since yesterday, there's these very few snowflakes that have been floating down.
I'm grateful I'm scheduled to work tomorrow. I'll be even more grateful if I can make it...

I'm grateful just to be alive on planet earth and have my health and my wife who is too good to me and my family who are all saved. Any day we wake up with God's breath in our lungs is a good day. I get moody sometimes but I try to remember that there are many people current and in history past who has put up with much more than I do and been a part of God's kingdom in a positive and productive way.

I felt so good, I even worked some extra hours! When it snows in Chicago, I definitely have more work to do.
10 hour shift, then an hour at the gym. I left the house at 530am and just got home! (530pm)
Probably do the same tomorrow!
I'm bushed. And God is good!

Thankful that the air no longer hurts when I go outside, even if that is only going to be a temporary thing that will return in a few weeks.......

Man, I just watched this episode of 20/20 covering the middle class... my heart goes out to both people (couple) working 2, 3, 4 jobs just to make ends meet... still not able to save a dime for their kids for college.
I am soooooooo blessed that I don't have to worry about money.
It just doesn't seem fair that I only pay $1400 a year in property taxes for a 5 bedroom house - no rent, no mortgage - while others work their ass off and still have to pay more than that a month just to keep their shitty apartment and the lights on in it.

I'm thankful for my house, too!
I'm thankful for hot showers (and indoor plumbing generally). I'm thankful for all of the people on this forum from whom I bought music in the last year. I'm thankful for free music from various artists.

Today I was grateful for having the physical capability to hear and the mental capability to reflect/appreciate given the music to which I was listening.

I'm grateful for the general humility of and support from Christian metal fans when it comes to accepting the ideology, mission, or even Christian labeling of Christian metal artists. I'm not sure if that describes the experience of others, but it describes mine, particular in contrast to that with Christian rap. The predominant fan narrative in Christian rap is poorly applied Bible verses to support claims that the artist left the faith or is selling out, unhelpful judgement/opinion of if a particular song (yes, song! not album, not discography ... the focus is so myopic) is Christ-exalting enough seemingly based on the number of times "God" or "Jesus" appears in the lyrics, claims of illuminati involvement (I think I have written "Illuminandi" in reference to that great band more times that 'illuminati' in my life), critique of the artists lifestyle/appearance as 'too worldly' ... it goes on, and it is sickening. So, I am actually very grateful that a similar narrative is not predominant in Christian metal.

Well, it's not so much that way anymore, but 25-30 years ago? That type of stuff is EXACTLY how the scene went......
I'm thankful for nothing specific at the moment.just feeling thankful/grateful in general about life......
