I get the impression that we here in Germany lack of different roasts. There seems to be just one standard roasting technique. My favourite dark roast cuban coffee is the first dark roast I ever discovered since I started to enjoy coffee 15 years ago. Really weird. Thomas Eversol, (excuse me if I missed it somewhere) are you and your wife drinkers of organic coffee? We normally buy our coffee from the health food store here or an organic fair certified coffee off the supermarket. (I refused to buy it some time but found out it is really enjoyable)

The coffee my wife likes is more along the lines of liquid candy that is "coffee flavored". She likes hers VERY sweet. Myself, I'm not really a coffee connoisseur. I lean more toward the dark roasts (flavor) with blends that are "smooth" (easier on my sensitive stomach) and would like any coffee that does this well.

Good, strong, dark roast coffee is a lot like black metal. At first taste, it comes off as harsh and bitter. But the more brands and roasts you try, you find one that really opens your mind and you realize what really good coffee can be. Then you go back and try the others again, and you find interesting and enjoyable flavors you didn't notice before because you were so focused on the harsh and bitter aspects. Those are still present, but now your palate has adapted to see them as pleasurable and essential to the overall flavor experience. At least that's how I see it...

Then you go back and try the others again ↑ this. For coffee and black metal. I can remember listening to some (black metal) and drinking some (coffee) years back and thinking "What is this mess? Its harsh and bitter. Someone doesn't know what they're doing." - and then along the way, my eyes open. (ok, we've covered 3 of the senses now) Now I "get" what they were going for - and that is " mystique".

I could have swore there was a post around here where you - Deepfriar - talked about organic coffee you liked. Maybe I dreamed it? XD My mom got me some coffee from "The Organic Coffee Company" called Java Love. Quite smooth, with just the right amount of bitter. I'm impressed with their roast because its listed as "regular" but it is definitely darker than some dark roasts I've seen. I drank the Barissimo Honduran organic whole bean coffee from ALDI for a while. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Been lazy about grinding lately so I've been drinking the organic Harvest Farms coffee from Ingles. I'm not really picky. I have some organic AmazonFresh coffee from Peru ordered from Amazon right now because I had to bring my Prime Pantry order to $35+ to get free shipping. We'll see how that goes lol. I'm an Arabica kind of guy, so as long as it's Arabica I'm usually good to go. I can drink Columbian, but meh. It's not necessary.
I have started a keto lifestyle about a month ago so I'm actually putting all kinds of strange and wonderful things in my coffee now. MCT oil, 2 Tbsp butter, heavy cream, vanilla Stevia liquid... it's actually quite delicious. I use an immersion blender and a wide mouth mason jar to blend it every morning. Delicious and frothy.

My sister in law got me this coffee called Radioactive Coffee. There's warnings and disclaimers all over this thing. "THE STRONGEST COFFEE LEGALLY SOLD"
I don't know... It sounds dangerous... I don't think I will drink this...

I don't think I will drink this... It's not on caffeineinformer's website, which is a site i usually trust to give good info about caffeine content. It also just seems to get not great reviews on Amazon, so a pass might work well.

Update: the AmazonFresh Fair Trade organic Peru medium roast coffee is GOOOOOOD! I like it a lot! Seems a lot more smooth (but still strong enough).
