There are several books on the history of black metal. There should be a book on the history of Christian black metal. Why hasn't this happened? It could be really awesome if done in good taste and with an attention to accuracy and detail. Has there ever been mention of a project like this?
One could argue that truthfully, Christian black metal is just lumped in with regular black metal because it's not a different genre. That's true, but the 'Christian' black metal music scene certainly has its own history and lore that is unique enough to warrant its own annals.
What are the chances of this ever happening?

I believe Armando from Eulogium was/is working on a an unblack book, i think he may have mentioned it somewhere here. He got some info and pictures off me for his research taken from old zines i have from the 1990's. I havn't seen him post here in a long time.
I kinda wonder if there's really much to write about, other than a comprehensive list of releases since 1994 and how unblack is mostly misunderstood and rejected.

I agree with DrawnSword. I guess there isn't much to write about. Could sum it up in 4 pages I think (par extensive discographies).
*without derailing into uninteresting details*

There are no uninteresting details in black metal LOL I figured there could be lots of content if it was filled with band photos, interviews, topical chapters (chapter about lyrics, chapter about subgenres, chapter about early history, mid-history, and modern history), maybe a chapter on music theory, a chapter including interviews with secular BM bands and their opinions about CBM, etc. I mean, yeah it won't be a THICK book, but I still think it could be awesome and a great conversation piece and a way to introduce people to extreme metal with Christian lyrics.

True! Thinking about it more it could serve as a good introduction to those new digging in. Especially with a comprehensive discovery on each release with highlight reviews on recordings that are regarded significant either super obscure or major release. Just imagine Nocturnalridescene's unblack around the world list in the book with any additional information on each act, thicker book with just that.

I´m not for nor against it, but if someone decides to create it, I´d hope he/she takes it serious and does a high quality job with it.

Hmm. Ever thought about doing it yourself? Or aren't you a writer naturally? You mention some good ideas here.

I don't really have any writing experience beyond essays and a Sunday school newsletter. I've only been listening to Christian black metal for about seven years (when I stopped listening to mainstream black metal), so I didn't experience the early history first hand so I lack confidence. Also, I don't have a collection of magazines or reference material (I do well enough to afford the music itself, I am not wealthy). AND I don't even have all that much free time so xD I would love to be a contributor or part of the development team (coming up with ideas etc.), but I wouldn't be able to see the project through from start to finish myself. Would be fun though if I had the time!

I was emailed by this dude Jordan, who said he was a BandCamp editor and freelance writer. We kicked around a half dozen emails or so, the last correspondence in April.
He asked me questions regarding the history of Christian black metal (ie: what bands launched the sub-genre) as well as lyrical themes, its relation to the secular counterparts, what bands I listen to, etc. etc. etc.
I think one of the reasons he reached out to me is because.... well, there are multiple Orationem releases. Not many CBM out there has more than 1 published "album", let alone said album actually being "full length". (or their releases are at least 10 years apart from each other)
He asked for my opinion, I definitely gave it to him. The only "beef" I brought up was my complete and total rejection of the term "Unblack" to describe this genre of music, as well as these hybrid projects (not black metal) getting incorrectly labeled as black metal....
He said my information and opinion was quite interesting.
I don't see this going anywhere though, like the others that hinted at falling on this sword and then nothing comes from it. Call me a doubting Thomas. *rimshot*
I'd read it, but I'd fully expect as much bias as what's in the other "History of black metal" literature, so..... my total interest in this is very, very low...

Though Not A Book, There is a documentary video, in segments. At least an hour, maybe two or in between on youtube. Here is the link to part 1:
