Hey guys I had no freaking clue!! The Vocalist of Panegyrist is a Christian. Here read this interview, it's absolutely intriguing to me. This guy is a far more focused on what seems to be the orthodoxy and orthopraxy, but that's probably how he connects best with God. This dude knows his stuff! He's obviously well-read in CS Lewis with how often his discusses the Numinous and other theological truths. This Elijah dude seems really cool. he www.invisibleoranges.com/panegyrist-hierurgy/i-voidhangerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/hierurgy

Based on the inspiration and the music I sampled, I am seriously considering purchasing that CD.

Thanks for sharing this! The interview is great ~ Elijah is really well-spoken and articulate. His comments about how he approaches and deals with black metal as a Christian really resonated with me. Will definitely be picking up this cd!

Regarding quality music, it makes no difference to me their beliefs... ...but there's some good sounding black metal here!

It's not bad. Not really my style, but I can definitely see why so many people like it Though I just... struggle to really think of it as "black metal". I find that I appreciate it more if I think of it as one of those albums on the more experimental end of doom metal. The interview is DEFINITELY interesting, though.

i-voidhangerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/hierurgy That artwork is killer! Elijah made the artwork himself. He did the artwork for LO-RUHAMAH as well. Beautiful style! I'm glad you guys are digging this! And yeah not really my style either bit I love what this dude is doing. I was talking to him last night and had a good conversation

Ordered this, which came with the digital download. Very interesting. Definitely more in line with progressive metal in general. Amazing atmosphere created throughout!

Finally got this in the mail. I Void-hanger, kind of like VoG records with Demoniciduth, had a hard time with the manufacturer with the gold ink in the booklet and packaging. They had 2 reprint attempts before sending it to a new place. It's got a 20 page booklet that's almost entirely gold so I'm sure that was a big deal! I say all that because I ordered this on Jun 6th and it came today after the owner messaged me back about it. Great guy.
Anyway, I'm excited to finally dig into this in full. I know there were expressions made about whether faith is really represented in this. Yes. The lyrics are "esoteric" but not so much that they aren't edifying. They are poetic but I find them extremely powerful! Thoroughly pleased with that. I'll still approach anything in the future with discernment but this album is great!

I've been refraining from listening on Bandcamp until I get my hands on the physical release in order to build anticipation. I had it ordered through Amazon because I had some gift cards, but with the production delay I couldn't wait any longer. I canceled my Amazon order and ordered directly from the label. I should have it some time next week! Very stoked! It's a full work of art from what I can tell.

Reverorum ib Malacht always felt off to me...probably because the band members seemed overly interested in mysticism and they identified with the Catholic church. This interview gives me a similar impression about Panegyrist...
The music is pretty interesting but feels somewhat off to me as well, but not in a good way. The lyrics are just strange.

RIB are really repented Catholics. I think they are really honest about their faith. I believe their lyrics are old Catholic documents.

I believe their lyrics are old Catholic documents. Yep. The vast majority of them are, anyway. I'm no expert on Catholicism. They have quoted the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus, which I don't think was ever accepted by Catholics (although I'm not sure), but Emil explained that as, "The texts from Nichodemi Evangelium were used because they dealt with interesting topics and [. . .] because I found inspiration in the religious devotion and the aesthetics that they displayed, rather than their explicit theological content".
