At the beginning of my new life as a Christian, these guys were a blessing because they were my intro into truly heavy Christian music. I'd listened to Stryper and others back in the 80's, but the older I became, the heavier and darker my tastes got. This album isn't really any different than their others; it's heavy, it sounds great, and the breakdowns are killer. One song, The Serpent's Tongue, is about black metal bands and how Satan actually hates them becise they are humans made in the image of God. Anyway, was just curious to hear what anyone else thinks of the new album.

That sounds like a very interesting lyrical theme. I do want to pick this release up and I'll try to sample some of it this weekend. They were one of the first Christian metal bands I started listening to when I stopped listening to most mainstream metal (aside from Stryper, Mortification, etc. in 80's/90's). It was awesome to have such high quality deathcore since I was no longer listening to Whitechapel, Suicide Silence, etc. and these guys have stood the test of time and consistently put out high quality music. I keep hearing about this album so I'll try to pick it up soon. Problem is, I've already been spending too much on music the last couple weeks lol.

I like it. I need to listen to it over again to grow on me, and decide if it is going to be on my top albums of 2018. ID played a show last Saturday at Chain Reaction, Anaheim, CA. I didn’t go because I end up watching the new Incredibles 2 movie and go home afterwards. Oh well. Maybe next time I will. The last time I saw them it was last year at Facedown Fest. It was the 2nd time I saw them. They done a great show. Goreship! ✊🏾

it's heavy, it sounds great, and the breakdowns are killer. My thoughts exactly. Killer breakdowns all over the place. _, this might stoke your "Death-to-demons"-core fires for awhile.

Definitely not in my normal sphere of genres, I love the messages Impending Doom brings. They're like Sleeping Giant in their forward messages without compromise and it makes me want to buy and like their stuff, even if it's not a favored style. I only bought Death Will Reign hoping there would be more than just breakdowns to accent what they did and run some lines along true death and doom metal. I was generally pleasantly surprised. There are a few songs that, still to this day, really have stuck with me from that album and I sing them in my head occasionally (Beyond the Grave & Live or Die).
So, for that reason I went forward with buying this. I've never heard anything prior to Death Will Reign. So, with that in my background, this seems better. The production is absolutely monstrous! There are a few songs I really don't care for but some are absolutely fantastic! Most of the "singles" are great, The Wretched Godless & Everything's Fake. War Music is better in the context of the album. EVIL and Run For Your Life (She Calls) are outstanding and the more metalcore-ish, groovy songs, Paved With Bones and Unbroken (though this peters out at the end) are surprisingly catchy. I really haven't been able to get into Burn or The Serpents Tongue. Overall I'm pretty pleased.
Deathcore really isn't my thing overall but I may go ahead and look back at some earlier material. It seems like Baptized in Filth would be best to go for next?

Honestly I have no opinion because I stopped listening to them after Nailed. Dead. Risen. album, which is one of the best cd's of the genre. When they went metalcore, I lost interest in them. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like metalcore... Occasionally. But I'd rather buy a deathcore over metalcore any day, and death metal over deathcore, however the band dissimulator is still on my should I? list. My thing Is that even though I collect all genres of Christian metal, I'm poor and have to make sure every dollar counts. And so many bands competing it is hard to determine which ones I should buy. That was until I hit over three hundred albums when I stopped counting, and started buying less and less. I realized that to own twenty albums is great to get into the albums and enjoy every sound. But with an over collection I get anxiety trying to figure out which albums as a whole I should gie a thorough listen whifch conflicts with my past favs when I started collecting. Thank goodness for itunes and playlists. I can make a playlist for every genre and then play all tracks on random. which was cool until my unblack playlist had over 300 songs, and almost the same with death. So thus, I only feel a need to buy bands that stick out from all the usual stuff and buy albums from my top ten to twenty artists. Whenever I choose a playlist, it's usually metalcore that's ignored the most, with power metal as well. Just like metalcore, my power metal mostly derives from free and legal downloads on samplers or mixes.

I should check this out. I found Death Will Reign kinda boring honestly. To me every song just screamed "hey did we mention we are heavy?" I felt alot of the songs all sounded the same. Maybe I need to give it another listen.

more thoughts on the lyrics from their song about black metal? I like it! A little bit silly, but not so much that the point is lost. I also noticed it's REALLY in-your-face - just like the other song I heard from this album "Wretched and Godless" or whatever it was called. Are all of their lyrics like that??? After hearing their first EP (which is AWESOME), I just couldn't get into the rest of their stuff, but I might have to give this band another chance.
