My reason for not using Facebook is layered. - The mobile app monitors texts and calls even when its inactive. I consider the information being taken as an invasion of privacy, irregardless of who uses and sees it. - Facebook pays people in 3rd world countries (who don't have access to therapy) $1 a day to "remove explicit media". Its hard enough to fathom paying someone that little to watch footage of beheadings and other murders, child p.orn and other p.orn, etc. I think Facebook is wealthy enough to pay a red-blooded 1st world resident (who has access to therapy) to do this dirty work. - Facebook is a HAVEN for pedophile, gang related and other malicious networks. Its layout and settings allow for anonymity and secrecy for them to thrive in the shadows. If it was common knowledge pedophiles like to use a local hangout, would you want to use it too? I wouldn't! As far as Google, I'm aware of their "algorithm bias" regarding political and non-conservative views.... but them "big brother-ing" my information bothers me more. On my phone, I have the Facebook and Google apps DISABLED. I only have Google Play activated, for my game account(s). As far as what to do - not one John. Q. Public can overrule what billionaires have mapped out. ...but if EVERYONE took the same approach to Facebook/Google that I do, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. A monopoly is only a monopoly when people refuse to use anything else....

Basically what Thomas said, but in my case, I have a Facebook account that I regularly use. I'm pretty much stuck there. There's no other way to keep in touch with most of those people -- plus it's where I get a good amount of information for the "General Updates" thread here, or stuff for Unblack Archives, etc.
Facebook is a garbage website inside and out -- it's the programming equivalent of a house destroyed by a tornado (and then a hurricane) (and a flood) and the community is full of lunatics.
I don't trust Google as far as I can throw them. But once again I'm kind of stuck with them since they own so many popular platforms (YouTube, Blogspot, Google itself of course)

Anyways, yeah, I feel you. For me ... I started using Facebook less than a year ago and I am extremly selective of whom I friend. So, I don't see much of the trash on there, I guess. I didn't know it was a haven for pedos and gangs and whatnot. As for Google; idk if my feels will change in the future (they probably will), but ... i don't really care that Google has my private info. I mean, if the gov't or Google or any pther crazy powerful entity/institution wants to ruin my life, I'm pretty sure Imm fucked -- there's not much I can do against that. I mean, this is a pretty defeatest attitude, but ... eh, it seems realistic. Now is that reason not to at least try to keep some info private and at least try to "fight" ... nopes. But, I guess it's just not a battle I deem that important to my life now.

I'm pretty much stuck there. There's no other way to keep in touch with most of those people There's plenty of ways to be in touch with people. I still send old timey emails to bros. Text is good too, if you can get a number. Regarding some of these projects, I wonder how much they really want to be contacted. ...or how much they're really dependent on Facebook themselves. I see your point bro - and I feel the same way. What's the government going to do with what I talk about online. Look at my Ire GIFs and CBM discussion? :B Its not that I think they're going to ruin me - their unwanted access to my information bugs me. Its like someone has a key to your house and they just stand in the corner of your living room. They're not doing anything, touching anything, hurting anything, talking... I still don't want them there - just being there.
