What do you do to lessen the feeling of being overwhelmed?
Cancel everything that isn't 1) work 2) doctor's appointments.
My feelings of "being overwhelmed" have a catalyst. I bet yours do too. Sometimes I gotta "inventory" my life to figure out what it is, but its there. Work and the doctor's have never been a source of being overwhelmed for me. Probably because doctor visits are pretty short / have some resolve for me, and work, I get out of myself by helping customers and my co-workers/bosses are cool.
My wife wanted me to go to a concert with her a little bit back. I agreed, then started feeling overwhelmed about the hypothetical lack-of-bathrooms situation there.
Cancel, cancel, cancel. "My" ticket went to her sister instead. They had a good time.
My mom wanted to come see me. I can't remember why I was freaking out about it, but I was.
Cancel, cancel, cancel. She came to see me another day where I wasn't freaking.
I had an online bro want to do a phone call. I agreed too quick, then started feeling overwhelmed.
Cancel, cancel, cancel. He'll live without ever speaking to me on the phone.
Its Sunday night and I don't feel like being around people.
Cancel, cancel, cancel. I'll see them next Sunday... maybe...
My grass was getting too tall.... but I felt like poop and was overwhelmed at the thought of running around in my yard for 40 minutes.
Cancel, cancel, cancel. Mowing the yard tomorrow isn't going to be exponentially worse.
Ire chat was full of trolls and remarks were DEFINITELY overwhelming me.
Cancel, cancel, cancel. I can't understand anything said in the Korean channel. Commence peaceful solitude.
Games and music are great distractions, but myself - I start feeling overwhelmed again as soon as I shut it off.
Will canceling make someone mad? Maybe. My wife was mad for a minute because I backed out of that concert.
....but dealing with her anger was much less overwhelming than that concert looming over my life.
(fun fact, my ex wife's anger was much more overwhelming)
Cancel, cancel, cancel bro. Punches that overwhelmed feeling right in the throat.
Is it the right thing to do? Not always. ....but bye bye overwhelmed if you clear the day.
