Essentially a thread to chat about the possibility of demonic influence/activity/etc. as a component of dreams.
Most dreams (which in this thread I'll have include nightmares) run their course -- as weird, or scary, or producing-negative-human-emotion-y as they are -- in a nonspiritual way. When we/I awake we acknowledge that a dream experience occured and that the experience may have produced physical or mental/emotional symptoms (e.g., waking up sweating, waking up scared) or even prompted spiritual reflection (e.g., symbolism in dream was interpeted upon waking as needing to be closer to God, prideful action in dream was interpreted as needing to repent of pridefulness in life). But what about times in dreams that feel like a spiritual experience that is influenced directly by seemingly demonic activity in the dream?
I awoke tonight after a dream that involved me trying, fairly desperately but not entirely so, to close a red and gold wardrobe door that was set on the periphery of a beach at which there were many people (though the crowd itself was not emphasized ... just, it wasn't an empty beach). It seemed not possible to close the door like I felt I needed to because the top corner of the door sort of came off its hinge a bit (the corner of the door was no longer flush with the side and top of the wardrobe) and the bar locking mechanism became distorted in shape. Well, I think my inability to shut this door let a demon out of the wardrobe into the world of that beach. I was scared at that. I sort of stood in dear and awe for a moment just looking at the rigidly open door, not sure what will happen. Then I kept trying to shut the door and eventually I was able to get the door back in the frame and force the locking mechanism to shut it.I don't remember if shutting the door stopped the feeling of demonic presence in the dream. After I shut it, I was on the beach and the waves became dangerously bigger and encroached on the beach, moving landward quickly. I might have attributed this to the release of the wardrobe spirit, I don't recall. Anyways, I and the other people tried to escape from the waves and were eventually pressed against like a fence that was at the boundary of beach and proper land (pressed up like the people at the front of metal shows are pressed up against the stage trying to escape the pit behind them lawlz).
Anyways, the details of my dream example don't really matter, I think. But that was some context to a dream where I felt there was real-life demonic activity. I woke up and prayed for the presence of God in my room and to not fear demonic activity because I am washed in the blood of Jesus. So, thoughts? Are dreams places in which angels and demons can directly exert themselves?
