My favorite black metal bands are Epta Astera, Reverorum ib Malacht, Hesychast. And Wolves in the Throne Room. I'm looking for other bands that sound like that. Christian bands especially, but I'll listen to secular bands that aren't anti-Christian or "Satanic."

Lunar Aurora - Elixir of Sorrow
An unbeaten classic if you'd ask me.

You'd probably like IHS. Temple of Perdition's music also has some chanting (though it's not as prominent as in Epta Astera) and their album is coming out soon, so check that out! If you're the kind of person who can listen to secular music without feeling convicted by it, you would probably like Reverorum ib Malacht's previous band Symphonia Sacrosancta Phasmatum. Only ever released two songs to my knowledge, but I like them a lot, personally.

Christian bands especially, but I'll listen to secular bands that aren't anti-Christian or "Satanic." Why give a shit what the lyrics are? Just choose the songs that dont contain blasphemy. If a band has some bad lyrics does not need to stop you from listening to all their songs that is just stupid. I am glad I am not like that. Even doe Wolfes in the throne room is suppose to be non satanic does not need to mean that they dont have blasphemy in their lyrics, even if they do just don't pick those songs it is no problem. Even if some songs are critical towards christianity does not mean you have to agree. Lyrics are just as much a part of music as any other instrumentation, song structure, production, etc. Beyond that, I think it's fair to suggest that lyrics can be more likely than the other aspects of music to influence the listener's emotions, attitudes, perspectives, actions, etc. In these ways, I think it is very reasonable to give a shit what the lyrics are, according to the shits available and desired to give.

I think this thread awkwardly derailed fast and nasty.
Secular non satanic atmospheric BM albums I enjoy(ed):
Marblebog : Forestheart Lunar Aurora : Hoagascht Branikald :Rdyandilir Trist (Ger): Hin-Fort ColdWorld : Melancholie2 Brocken Moon - Das Märchen vom Scnee (classic!) Paysage d' Hiver - Der steineche
Christian: Hesychast and Vials of Wrath are quite the only ones I van really think of. IHS is a nice addition. Maybe these?:
Pilgrimage / Elgibbor : Slava Bogu Evroklidon : The Flame of Sodom Flaskavsae : Eclipse in Tides Flaskavsae / Nahum split

Well that is youre problem No, my problem is your negative and adversarial response to the first thread made by a new member on TBL. Anyways, the guest post above this is right and I concede. As for atmospheric bands I listen to ... the first ones that come to mind are Dark woods (lmao my w key doesnt work so i had to copy and paste the 'w' from somewhere else and i don't feel like recopying and pasting a capital one, but yes, it should be Dark capital-w oods), Quest For Serenity, sort of Neversatan, and ... yeah. Not exactly like the original examples you posted, but, yeah.

Some bands I feel have a great atmosphere would be Nocternity, Summoning, Falls of Rauros, Thy Light, Year of No Light, also although they´re not BM I´d recommend Ahab and Evoken

Very true -- While I wouldn't go so far as to call Elgibbor, Pilgrimage, or Evroklidon "atmospheric", they DEFINITELY have enough atmospheric moments and influences that atmospheric fans would probably find a lot to enjoy. Although they do have more of a "naturey" atmosphere than the "ecclesiastical" one of Epta Astera or Reverorum ib Malacht -- if we're talking general "atmosphere", I would definitely add Torches in the Void to the list. Especially his first EP. Fantastic! By the way, welcome, Draft! I like the name!

Twilight Fauna is a safe secular (as far as I can tell). It's raw, atmospheric BM with some interesting folk elements.

The projects I have listed in my signature have been described as atmospheric black metal to varying degrees. All of them are instrumental (so far), and composed by a Christian(me).

Late response. I made a huge thread in the secular black metal folder of threads on atmospheric black metal and similar styles. I even went back to it last month I think to fix dead links from when Atmospheric Black Metal Albums YouTube channel went under. You'll find some cool stuff there. Nothing satanic in that list

how about forteresse?(they have an excellent ep) and i don't think they are satanic, because of the lyrical themes.

I really enjoyed Thèmes Pour La Rébellion... unfortunately, that's the only music of theirs I've heard.
