Since Norway is the birth place of black metal I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread dedicated to unblack metal bands from Norway.

So, I spend so much time listening to "underground" stuff, that I never really took the time to check out Antestor. I know their first demo "Despair" (doom/death), and a couple songs from "The Forsaken". .............. Oh, and that interlude song "Tilflukt" from "Omen". But that's it.
If I get around to looking further into their discography, where do you guys think I should start?

Then you need to listen to svarte daudens gjenkomst from the return of the black death album (re realesed as Kongsblod)

Vaakevandring's first album is really hard to find right? I can't speak for others, but personally I've never seen it for sale. At the very least, I've never seen it at a reasonable price. It must be really rare.

This song sounds AWESOME. If you liked that song, nocturnaliridescence , you should listen to the whole album. Start to finish, it's a black metal gem. Not just an Unblack metal gem (though it is that, too!)

But I belive some of those band you listed are not black metal but noise and maybe synth I just grabbed that from the Unblack around the world thread. I know that there is some overlap with some of the genres, but the overall theme was to be inclusive.

Strange. I collect Unblack Metal. Over 200 albums and ep's. Yet I am always amazed at how little much of the scene I have collected. The giant list of bands and I'm like - ????? - I own only Four of these bands, really? I am curious how many bands are out there, plus cd releases.

If I can't find audio for a band, but people say they're black metal, I will add them, until proven otherwise. (There have been a couple death metal bands I removed from the list before.) I'd rather have too much information, than not enough.
Although there are a few bands that I know aren't really "metal". The rule I follow in those cases is this: If I talked to somebody who didn't like black metal at all, and I showed them a band (such as Frostundus Ronoiseus, Lidian Forest, etc) would that person like the band? If the answer is "yes", I don't add it to the list. If the answer is "no", I consider it close enough, and add it.

Desmodus Rotundus is his black/grind project (and the name of a bat). Frostnoise is his harsh noise project.
Frostundus Ronoiseus is just a combination of the two names and genres.

Lidian forest really soundes like melodic/symphonic black metal but the guitar is missing? That is what make it hard to know if it can be called metal at all. The syntheziser or keyboard is really distorted so it makes the atmospheric sound you often hear in symphonic/melodic black metal such as Limbonic art where riffs on syntheziser is mostly focused on and the guitar more for atmosphere. So I dont know, I would call it black metal because of the distorted atmosphere. But it is probably a type of dark ambient dungoen synth with vocals.
