Does anyone else here struggle with perfectionism? I've realized myself that I deal with perfectionism a lot, due to upbringing and personality. A lot of times I think being perfectionist or hard on myself is more virtuous or godly, but I'm starting to realize that that's not the case.
Are you perfectionist? Are you not perfectionist? If you are, how do you deal with it? Share as much or as little as you like.

Are you perfectionist? Are you not perfectionist? Do you have an example bro?

I am definitely a perfectionist.
The main thing that helps me with this is remembering God's power, and God's mercy -- God is stronger, and more righteous than anybody who judges my imperfections. If I am in God's grace, they have no power over me. Also, God is VERY merciful and forgives me for any mistakes I make. Keeping in mind these two things helps take the burden of perfectionism off my back, while also still encouraging me to keep moving forward and trying to improve.
That last pert is important because as I have definitely seen (on Facebook for example), the opposite of perfectionism is just as bad as perfectionism. "I'M A BEAUTIFUL WONDERFUL PERSON AND I'M AMAZING JUST THE WAY I AM! IF YOU DON'T LIKE THAT THEN JUST MOVE ALONG!!!!" People should try to improve themselves, they just shouldn't set unrealistic expectations for themselves like (apparently) people like you and I tend to.

People should try to improve themselves, they just shouldn't set unrealistic expectations for themselves Reminds me of trying to keep the Law. The standard is just on a different level that no one can keep. I´m definitely a perfectionist in some areas, but I´m glad it doesn´t hold me back. But I see where problems might arrise, one has to learn to let go sometimes and just leave things as they are...good/great and not perfect on the other hand sometimes great is not enough and one should strive to get to "perfection", just be sure to choose your battles

Are you perfectionist? Are you not perfectionist? Do you have an example bro? Hmmm...one mild example that comes to mind is recording music. I never feel like I get it right whenever I record myself; I spend a lot of time on it only to feel frustrated at the end. But I guess whether consider yourself perfectionist (and what "perfectionism" means to you) is somewhat subjective.

I never feel like I get it right whenever I record myself; I spend a lot of time on it only to feel frustrated at the end. Look at it this way: Artists are always their own worst critics. In most cases, listeners can't see the vision you originally had with your music; they only see the end result. You can compare your own music against what you wanted it to be; listeners can only compare it against itself. So if there's something you can't get right, don't worry too much about it. You can improve on it with time. In the meantime, people will more than likely be able to appreciate your work for what it is.

I know most people reading this would think the moral here is - Mary was listening to Jesus, Jesus didn't want her to be distracted... but I also see a good lesson about perfectionism here as well. Martha was working hard, preparing dinner... for Jesus. If I had such a task, I would consider it more important than recording my next Orationem track. I think its fair to say she wanted some sort of "perfect" dinner because she was getting "worried and troubled" that she didn't have Mary's help to pull it off. ...but Jesus said what Martha was doing wasn't important. Her thing she needed "just right", didn't matter. I'm not trying to discredit making music or dinners or anything else because "its not important, why bother". A perfect track is small microscopic potatoes in comparison to even simply following Christ. Stuff we do is supposed to be a source of fun... not a source of disturbance when its not perfect. We can change our thinking/priorities to have this. Starting now!
