Something strange happened this morning and I've been thinking a lot about it. Here's what occurred. It was 6am, if my bladder gets any fatter its gonna splatter, so I take care of that and go back to bed. Its dark in my bedroom - curtains help with that, but its not very light outside either.... I'm falling back asleep, but I'm not asleep yet. I see a very bright light. Like, an LED flashlight shining in my face bright. I go to squint, but.... my eyes are still closed! I am fully aware of this. As strange as it sounds, I do not want to open my eyes because I'm thinking what I'm seeing will stop? My eyes adjust, I start to see details. It looks like I'm in a tunnel and there's... rocks? Like, sharp vivid detail. Those are definitely rocks. I'm not really "looking around" because I'm laying down and my head is on a pillow.... but I "look closer". Yep. Rocks. Then it went away, and then I fell back asleep. I googled this, looks like this would be considered a "hypnagogic hallucination". This is something that randomly/naturally occurs on the border between REM sleep and being awake. Other associated conditions would be sleep paralysis and narcolepsy. Anyone else experience anything like this? Feel free to talk about any similar type hallucinations in this thread - even the drug induced ones.

That sounds like a hypnagogic hallucination to me.
I had a friend sleep over a handful of years ago and woke up in the middle of the night to what I perceived to be him sitting up bolt right and ... I don't remember, but it certainly had a demonic thing feel. I couldn't move my neck to look away and I couldn't cry out.

Something happened to me, but only once, back in 2010. Given where I was at that point in time, I have no idea if it was natural or supernatural in nature, but your story reminded me of it.
I had my eyes closed. As I recall, I was tired, but by no means close to sleep. All of a sudden there was a light in the middle of my vision, and then it vanished. Like how a balloon inflates and then deflates. And then it appeared again, brighter/bigger, then disappeared again. The third or fourth time this happened, I could clearly see natural scenery in the middle of the light. Like a field, or a clearing in a forest or something.
I got scared about what this was / what was happening, so I just opened my eyes and sat up again.

I have no idea if it was natural or supernatural in nature, but your story reminded me of it. I think science would like to pass the buck to X chemicals in the brain doing Y.... yet science can't even come close to fully explaining consciousness.

Saw a hallucinatory small animal (rabbit?) in my room last night when I woke up.

Saw a hallucinatory small animal (rabbit?) in my room last night when I woke up. Was it something you looked at and then it went away? ....or was it like a corner-of-your-eye type thing and trying to look at it didn't work?
