This Epic Christian Doom Metal Band is my favorite Doom Artist. After a few year break, they recently released the album Deus Vult. Which was strange because on the same day I found a Unblack Metal Band called DawnBreaker who had their album also named Deus Vult. I never heard that Latin Saying, Much less as two album names in one day. Anyways here is the link to Evangelist's bandcamp; evangelistdoom.bandcamp.com/

I really need to check out more of this band's music. I only know their song "Militis Fidelis Deus", from their 2013 album. I don't 100% agree with the band's lyrics (I'm Protestant, not Catholic) but the music is AWESOME.

Killer epic doom! Agree with NI, don't love the lyrics as I loathe everything about the actual crusades. However, they may be using the crusades as an allegory for spiritual warfare (in that case I am all for it).

I only know their song "Militis Fidelis Deus", from their 2013 album. I don't 100% agree with the band's lyrics (I'm Protestant, not Catholic) but the music is AWESOME. Agree with NI, don't love the lyrics as I loathe everything about the actual crusades. However, they may be using the crusades as an allegory for spiritual warfare (in that case I am all for it). You know though there are things I don't agree with in the crusades, through Evangelist I am able to see how a crusader would look at life, and it makes it a more historical look. We all know that Unblack metal is based on warfare aside from Christ worshiping. Thus Evengelist in my music collection is like I am seeing from the view of history through the eyes of those in battle at that time. It's kind of like the gnostic gospels. There are things that don't add up to Christianity and even contradict God's word, but you do see from the early church how some viewed life historically; for example; There is a far out story that once St. Peter was visited by a lion who sought to be baptized and St. Peter did baptize it. Many years later he was in a colliseum under the nero persecution to be torn by animals, and the animal sent against him just so happened to be the lion he baptized. And the Lion wouldn't do it. Now that's definitely not true, but historically it shows that people who were converts viewed the message of God so transforming that not even the world of animals were the same. So thus, just like the crusades, their were actions and things done, contrary to God's word, for example in Evangelist's song "Militis Fidelis Deus" they point out the "salvaging blood from our steeds". It was the reference to when the crusaders had run out of water and were blood letting their horses to drink their blood to not die of thirst. This of course goes against God's will for it was written by the council in the book of acts to stay away from drinking blood and sexual immorality. Yet many of the lines used by Evangelist come from actual words spoken in the crusades of records kept by those who chronisled them. In militis fidelis deus; "Faith has failed on earth, fear of The Lord prevails no longer, justice fell down on its knees, evil reigns in its stead" is a direct quote from the Vatican recorder of the crusades. So thus as a piece of history, Evangelist is a great album, but must be taken with a grain of salt. IT's also like the band Place of Skulls. Songs like Blood of Jesus is an ultimate white metal gem, but on the same EP there is a track knocking baptists and other protestant denominations as not right with God. So thus it is taken with a grain of salt. For the most part Christian metal doesn't really focus on that, but there are albums or tracks that must be taken with the grain of salt.

I thought Evangelist was a mainstream band that mentioned Christian themes, not a Christian band. Maybe I'm wrong.
I get nervous when bands use Crusader imagery, because sometimes that stuff gets used by the white power crowd (I even ran across some "Christian" white power music once...not a fan). I'm not trying to be super politically-correct or say that Evangelist is racist, just pointing it out.

I've never read anything from them that indicated they belonged to "that" crowd. Just ordinary Catholics.

Leader; It came from the Jews yet now God's word only applies to white people. God desires all men to be saved, because the bible meant "White Skinned" as the word men and everyone else aren't humane like white people thus aren't men. Those other skinned gentile devil kind are not the Christian-Judean supreme race of Whites!!! THAT IS STUPID!!!
