Yeah, they posted a picture and... a date. Never been a fan of really cryptic stuff like this. If you're releasing an album, just......... release the album, you know? Anyway, let's hope it's an album. Their music is really solid.

Yeah, they posted a picture and... a date. Never been a fan of really cryptic stuff like this. This is an odd stance (in my opinion) for a black metal fan. Many black metal bands conduct themselves in a 'esoteric' or 'mysterious' manner... what is it specifically that you dislike about cryptic stuff? You just think it's silly or immature or..? I guess I just look at it as part of the whole package of 'entertainment' in the scene.

Conducting oneself in a mysterious/cryptic manner is a personality trait. (Or, in many cases I suspect, a gimmick, but anyway.) Being cryptic about one's music is a marketing thing and if one intends to sell something, it seems weird to be cryptic about it.

Fair enough, but I'm not sure black metal artists are looking to promote themselves in the same straight-forward manner as other artists. I guess what I'm saying is that quite often it is part of the aesthetic of black metal's kind of, 'anti'-standard, to go against the grain and do things differently and off color. To avoid appealing to the masses, and rather shroud themselves in obscurity. Although, to your credit, maybe that's moreso the 'standard' in black metal, so it's more edgy to NOT be cryptic... lol... Either way, this release should be fantastic.

Album will be titled Stridslysten (English translation "combative"). I have an image of the cover but can't upload it right now due to internet restrictions at work.

Pre-orders are up at Nordic Mission and Rottweiler RecordsI feel like NM would get here faster but it's more expensive (plus international shipping for me) so I ordered from Rottweiler.

It's a Swedish band so I'm pretty sure Rottweiler is importing from Sweden and so the disc would have to change hands twice? I could be wrong though, maybe the discs are manufactured in the US. If that's the case then that's awesome I'll have it sooner! 😅

Wow... Just wow...
Exceeded my expectations. They aren't playing around.
Man, I'm stoked for this. Album of the year contender? DC better bring his A game on the next VoW, because it seems like Skald might be aiming to set the bar high in 2019.

I need time to digest what I just saw, and maybe a couple more views over the weekend.

Well, color me interested by that. Music was enjoyable. Message was convicting. Images were disturbing, which I think is what they were going for. One issue, I certainly hope they were using the images of the crusades as an example of the failure to carefully exegete the Scriptures rather than a call to arms, because that concept really bothers me. I’m all for waging war against the world, the flesh and the devil, but the crusades, like slavery, are a terrible stain on the history of the Church.

Found this over the weekend... live version of the song. It was posted way back in 2017, but I hadn't seen it.

The new album is really good. I need to listen through a couple more times as I was distracted the first time I listened to it... but it's GREAT!
