Been getting (back) into postpun, new wave and related genres. Of course that means making a giant playlist, ranging from Tears for Fears to The Cure to a bunch of obscure bands.
Other than Leper I don't know many Christian bands that play(ed) goth, postpunk, darkwave, new wave, or anything in that wheelhouse. The few bands I know a little about are: Stranger Kings (one-off project, I think) Batzz in the Belfry Dead Artist Syndrome Ending the Vicious Cycle (have an album, haven't listened to it) Dark Valentine
I'd like to know some more if they exist. I don't know anything that fits into the "dark romantic neoclassical but also Christian" category.
Don't mention gothic metal like Paramecium or Saviour Machine, please. It's not what I'm looking for.

It's not what I'm looking for. Not sure if it is what you're looking for, but there were several Christian new wave and synth pop bands/albums in the late 80s and early 90s. Really not so much on the goth or darkwave side. Here are some off the top: A couple of albums by Daniel Amos: Vox Humana and Doppelganger. Some of their other stuff could be characterized as postpunk. First two albums by Crumbacher: Incandescent and Escape from the Fallen Planet First two albums by Mad at the World: s/t and Flowers in the Rain441 - Mourning into DancingLifesavers - A Kiss of Life (Other Mike Knott/L.S.U. projects have some new wave and post punk flavor). L.S.U. - Shaded Pain has some fantastic moments. Painted OrangeSpy Glass BlueSteve Taylor's first few albums (e.g., Meltdown) Writ on Water (e.g., Sylph); they have more recent stuff, too. Human Condition - s/t (from 1992) Silverwind Servant More recent stuff: Foxglove Hunt. I think they're great. They have an album and an ep. Fine ChinaThe Brothers MartinThe Echoing Green (more synthpop) Of these, I'm guessing Spy Glass Blue, Writ on Water, and Fine China will be getting closest to what you want. Let me know, and I'll try to think of others. There's more guitar-oriented postpunk, too (e.g., Duraluxe -formerly Fluffy).

Synthpop and new wave are exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Remembered a couple more: Low & Behold (this was a major oversight!) Soviet - they were on a Christian label for their first album; not sure where they're at on such things now If you like the analogue synth heavy stuff, there's always Joy Electric. They're closer to EDM most of the time, but they were heavily influenced by the Smiths.

Is Low and Behold the one with the guy from Demon Hunter? Ryan Clark, yes. And Jason Martin from Starflyer 59, brother of Ronnie Martin from Joy Electric, and (surprise, surprise) half of The Brothers Martin. Also influenced by the Smiths. You can hear that influence in their stuff.

Listened to a relatively obscure comp of Goth music I acquired on CD today. Strangely enough, it has two Christian artists on it: Dead Artist Syndrome and Saviour Machine.

This seems the perfect place for me to mention my post-punk/Goth-Rock solo project under my own name: Michael Mosher - Sometimes it's Worse (2021)Michael Mosher & The Fizzing Teeth - It Gets Better EP (2021)These albums deal with more personal themes, so there's no specific religious focus most of the time. There is at least one track with a direct Christian message though ("Jesus is There/Vampire Reggae"). I often hope to generate a buzz about these albums, as I'm quite proud of how they turned out. Besides drum tracks, everything else is totally recorded by cellphone, and only acoustic guitar is used on these albums. This means the "bass" and "electric guitar(s) are actually only acoustic guitar. Hope someone out there likes it. I'm always hoping it will become the soundtrack to someone's Summer and/or that it will help someone through a tough time in their life. Fun trivia fact: The song "Dream" on Sometimes it's Worse made me cry so much as I wrote the lyrics that I had a real difficulty to record the vocals. First take, I was so obviously congested that I had to wait until the next day to try again for the 2nd take. That song took a lot out of me, and I broke down balling every time I heard it for some time afterward. Lord willing, if I ever get the ability to record music again, continuing with The Fizzing Teeth is probably what I'd be most excited about going forward.
