This is the all purpose industrial music thread, for both Christian and secular artists.
If you're not familiar with industrial, it is best described as "Matrix music," although there are quite a few different subgenres that don't quite fit that. Another way of thinking about it is that it is rock with electronics, or electronic music that rocks. These aren't very good descriptions, I know.
The most famous industrial artists are Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Rammstein. However, with the exception of Ministry's old stuff (which isn't industrial), I don't really like any of these artists.
A good "classic" industrial band is KMFDM, which sounds like what Neo and Trinity would listen to in their spare time.
My personal favorite industrial band is probably Skinny Puppy. Skinny Puppy sounds like the dark and twisted version of KMFDM. Another way to describe them is this: If Marilyn Manson made music to scare suburban moms, Skinny Puppy made music to scare Marilyn Manson, though without the satanic hocus pocus of Manson's music--their lyrics are usually about personal or political topics.
Fear Factory was one of the better industrial metal bands of the 90s, and they laid the groundwork for a lot of later bands.
Death In June is one of my favorite neofolk/martial industrial bands. Their sound is a lot less metallic and "Matrix-y" than the other bands. Also, their singer/songwriter is almost certainly a Nazi, and of course I don't endorse such vile and twisted views. Fortunately, a lot of their music isn't about any of that.
Finally, I have to include the song "Robo Sapien" by Die Krupps, because it is just so ridiculous and fun.
Anyone else have any favorite industrial artists to share? I know there was a previous thread on Christian industrial, so feel free to (re)share and discuss those bands as well.
