I've bee a big fan of Wolves In The Throne Room since their debut album [I'm not quite hipster enough to have been a fan since their demos... ] and have heard of some of these, but I definitely want to check out the rest. I saw this list posted on Facebook: rateyourmusic.com/list/apocalyptan/cascadian_black_metal/

I've regularly listened to like 5 bands on that list. Interesting that the term has to do with the bands geographical location and nothing to do with their (sub)genre or lyrical content.

A big fan of several bands on that list. (And obviously influenced by a few.) The USBM scene seems to be thriving more than the Norwegian currently, but I'm a little out of the loop for secular bands so I may be wrong. But some of the lesser known bands are excellent; I like Addaura, Skagos, Velnias, Ash Borer and Altar of Plagues (Mammal album especially). And I'd agree that WITTR do owe ALOT of their style to Weakling (right down to one of their logos). However, we all have other bands/artists that shape our style – some are just more obvious than others.

There's also Panopticon and DC's project Vials of Wrath for Appalachian Black Metal.
I'm still waiting on Ozark Black Metal to be a thing. Something to listen to when I get homesick.

Filling in the gaps of my knowledge of this subgenre. Here's a band from Cascadia. I love their guitar and bass tone, but it's a little raw and could have been better.

DUDE KERRICK! Thanks! this will surely help me! Damn I love this genre! I'm so looking forward to making some of my own once I get all I need, though I may need a better drummer who can track accurate drums.
