Hi Duane, I'm checking through my e-mails and I have the correspondences in the Orationem account in June, and I also have an e-mail in my Ankou Awaits from August that states you got my two new releases in stock and they're awesome. That's the only e-mails I have. (I regularly check spam. You're in my address book so something would be very wrong with my outlook if it went to junk) Did you send another e-mail? Or did I mis-interpret the e-mail in August? Regarding wanting to carry everything, I've got a lot of releases bro. HAHA!! EDIT: I also sent you a new e-mail. Responded and got the email back. Is ur box full? Send me a list of wwhat cds u have availabile for wholesale...

Thanks bro! I agree with you! Also, I'm really glad that Wulfrune Worxxx gave me a label/insert template because it wasn't too hard to put together my own decent looking DIY cassette. I just needed a day off work to work on it! I've added these to the Orationem dot com shop and they're ready for purchase.

I e-mailed Cassio checking on the status of my copy of the Brazil pressing. He e-mailed back saying that he hasn't sent it yet, and the album wasn't selling very well...
"We've only sold 3 units." (estimating between release and the e-mail which was a while ago - 3 week span)
Maybe this is just me being an underground artist but... ...even selling 1 is awesome?

Thomas, I'm curious, have you ever considered doing some form of ambient black metal? The little ambient sections in this album at the beginning and end (and occasionally in the middle) of each song really entrance me.

Not really considered it. ...but I'm definitely bringing those back and then some for the next release. I like them too.
You've listened to the last track on the new Ankou Awaits right? That's a 10 minute ambient track.

By the way, since I got that job and I'm putting my two weeks in where I work... I'm setting myself a little time off to finish the next Orationem album.

The cassette insert is a slap happy joke. Theres no song titles or lyrics any where and 3 empty panels plus another wasted panel on directing me to a website for the info. I could have downloaded it and put it on cassette myself arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh If there was no CD or download this would be acceptable imo.

Sorry man. I used the WulfruneWorxxx template (which is one sided - hence the empty inside) How can I make this up to you?
I do appreciate the honest feedback though. Are song titles and lyrics your suggestion to make the tape insert better?

Sorry man. I used the WulfruneWorxxx template (which is one sided - hence the empty inside) How can I make this up to you? I do appreciate the honest feedback though. Are song titles and lyrics your suggestion to make the tape insert better? Yeah song titles are sorely missed and credits. I also like to know the instruments and other recording info including months and year etc. I Knew there was'nt going to be any lyrics included yet with the reverse side and 3 available panels and the flap they could be made to fit. The j-card, which could of been a cheap thin card not budget fax paper or whatever it is, usually traditionally has the song titles displayed on the end bit flap under A and B side to the left and right side ways. Its good like that so you can follow along with what song your up too, and connect the name of it. Another idea you could print on paper pro-fitting labels and glue em on each side of the cassettes, done right they look nice. If there's any empty corners in the layout throw in those roots designs or something. Also the dubbing tabs on the cassette itself should be broken off, leaving them on looks slap happy and scary to a tape head, in case someone accidentally pressed record. I think its worth making the layout look great and having all the info. Maybe if you update the J-card layout with lyrics and everything you could pop that in with a future album order. Shipping rates to NZ are crazy high these days so that kind back fired trying to get 2 things together with the exchange rate, and paying that much. I would of been better off getting the CD and at least i would have the song titles.

James,
An Orationem CD will be on its way to you first thing in the morning. Also, if you would like a digital download or me to refund your VoG order, just PM me.
In the meantime, after some thought and prayer I've removed cassettes from the Orationem store and there will not be a cassette option for any Orationem release moving forward. (website updated)
Please don't think this is sour grapes - it absolutely isn't. I do appreciate your feedback - and you're right. I'm just throwing in the towel for cassettes because I don't have the experience necessary to release an acceptable product. Me "releasing" a cassette album is like a guitarist releasing a drum album. I don't know what I'm doing... obviously. I had to look up "tabs broken off" because I had no idea, among other things you mentioned.
On top of that, DIY cassettes is too arts and crafts for me - and no other way to say it, my own interest in cassettes has been taken down a couple notches because of how much of a pain in the ass they are to even dub, let alone feel like I'm in 2nd grade because I'm playing with paper and scissors. I almost feel like an idiot now that I think about spending 80 minutes of time per "album" just to make a product that looks and sounds like crap.
I'd rather record new music for a new CD than spend hours trying to figure out how not to flub up a tape for literally 2 people who have an interest in them. ...and that's what I shall do. (rofl)

Dont worry about it man, I'll just look up the song titles and write them on an inside blank panel of the insert. If the song titles were included i would not have said anything, with me being an artist i find presentation and info as important as the music but maybe no one else will care. Man, i would of hoped that you'd seen the presentation as apart of your artistic expression and enjoyable to make.

I got a CD on route to you. I hope you like it better.
I certainly care about about the presentation of the music, and myself, wouldn't have thought not including the song titles would break that. The layout for the cassette is almost identical to the Brazilian pro-press... and the idea behind pointing people to the website was so people would go there for a cache of information. (to look up song names, lyrics, about, etc.)
I guess that's where you and I differ. I don't want a little information here, a little information there. If I can't (or don't know how to) fit everything about the release in the inserts, then I'll put everything about the release online.
I don't know why me including a tracklist would have stopped you from mentioning the blank panels or the tape tabs... you should share info like this and they are valid concerns.
The music I make isn't just for me. Criticism lets me know what I need to fix or if I need to cut my losses altogether.

I'm half-tempted to order a copy of the Orationem cassette from VoGR now because it will probably become very rare... Edit: seems that it's out of stock. Guess it'll be quite rare.

I remember a few years ago when a dude was selling a shrink wrapped Akryal CD on Amazon.com for a couple grand.
It would be funny if Orationem cassettes ended up in the same boat. ...and then someone buys it and they drool over the fact that its so kvlt, it doesn't even have a tracklist. HAHA!!!

There are actually three copies of Akryal on Amazon right now. Now there's another album that I'm tempted to buy!

I remember e-mailing the dude that was selling it.
Me: "Hey I made this album. Why are you selling it for so much money?" Him: "Because no one else has it." Me: "Redstream has it." Him: "No, they're out." Me: "Oh." Him: "Yeah..."

I'v been playing tapes since the early 80's and never stopped, i actually prefer the tape sound. The production and tone of the album really shines in a grim way, i like the crisp drum sound and its very tight and atmospheric old-skool vibe. Since its a trve edition cassette now ha, i wont write the song titles in rather when i get some ink in the printer i will print out a couple of panels with them to fold and place inside the insert. With a lot of free unblack downloads rather than burn to cdr i have often put them to cassette where suits and made up a cover insert to fit the format with the info. I really believe that if your going to put out a cassette release there should be no other format available or even a digital download otherwise it defeats the purpose. Cassettes are anti-mainstream , apart of the underground culture of BM, and the aesthetics and production quality really suits.
