I made some updates to the Orationem site. For those of you going, "Huh, wha? What's that?" - Orationem is a Christian black metal project I've been in the shadows about. It recently dawned on me that while there's some spiritual perks to anonymity, its not necessary to be anonymous with each other. (each other meaning brother to brother in Christ) I'm still not going to go social media with this project, but if anyone wants to take it there unofficially, that's perfectly fine with me. The full album has been out since June-ish and I think probably... 10 people know about it? HAHA!! So anyway, the site is www.orationem.com and the updates include: - revealing my name (TADA!!!!) and some information about previous projects - links to an unofficial Facebook (made by denith that comes here) and the samples uploaded to YouTube by another patron - Artwork for the upcoming Brazillian version of the album / yes, I originally stated I wasn't working with a label, but Cassio explained to me that the only way Brazil they can have Christian black metal is if they "release" it themselves. (since Brazilian customs is greedy/crooked) - that explains why they have such exclusive releases What's still the same - the US version of the album is still available - lyrics - music samples Let me know if you have any questions!

Cool! I've been really enjoying my copy of the album. The site looks good! And congrats to getting it released in Brazil. Is it only importing that is an issue (i.e. will the label be exporting the album too)? I hope the music reaches as many people as possible - both for their enjoyment and to worship God through!

Listened to a few samples; I really like this release. I will try to pick it up when my bank account has more digits.

Brazil is able to export it seems ok. But trying to get cd's into BRAZIL is near impossible. You pretty much summed it up exactly how Cassio explained it to me. Also working with Cassio involves using the Brazilian currency - which I think also plays a part in importing. While PayPal makes it easy to exchange to USD, 1 Brazilian "Dollar" (called a "Real") is literally .28 cents in US dollars. I'd sell and ship 10 Orationem CDs to any store for $35... which is generous in my opinion, as stores could sell the discs for $7 for a 100% selling price cut. Stores would make more than 100% of the selling price actually because I eat some of my portion in the shipping. ...but that would make 1 $3.50 whole CD in the US, cost 12.54 in Brazil. I don't blame anyone in Brazil for not wanting to pay 125.42 in their currency for 10 CDs wholesale. If I cared about making money with this music, I'd turn down .28 cents on the dollar - but I'd much rather provide some cool sounding black metal that has spiritual substance and is safe for Brazilian Christians to listen to than make "dollars".

I really wish it had cover art will there be a cassette release? LOL you should check out the website bro. The Brazilian version of the album will have a cover. I also said on the website that if there's a demand for a cassette release, there will be a cassette release.

Does anyone know Portuguese? I might just have to ask Cassio as to what this says. (I can't just plug it into a translator because its an image) According to Cassio, he submitted the Orationem content to his manufacturing company on Friday. (September 4th)

Just bought myself a (stateside) copy. Were you listening to Deathspell Omega when you wrote this stuff?

Thanks Armando! I actually haven't listened to Deathspell Omega in years. I know of at least one person that's they're favorite band.
Actually, the drumming for Orationem was probably because my appeal of Marduk's song structure. (tempo is either really fast, or slow/medium and track tempos are either all or half-n-half)
The guitars for Orationem, I'm taking a step forward and back. Like Breviarium with an Ankou Awaits twist, death metal elements removed of couse.
Vocals? Marduk again.

I asked Cassio for a translation of what's on the Metal Survivor page, but he says he's not sure if its a completely accurate translation. ...which makes me think he didn't write this? It feels like its been through the auto-translation ringer, but I still get the main idea of what he was saying. Huh, I guess I didn't realize that they had the pro release available now. I'll have to ask Cassio what Wanhoop Music is. I can't find anything about it online.

Thanks man!
I did an inventory of the Orationem "unpro-press" or "disc only press" sales and might as well share that info here. Since June, there have been:
10 mail orders. 4 in person sales.
Not too bad considering <rant>stores won't think it will sell at all because there's no cover/inserts</rant>. HAHAHA!!! [flying]

Thanks guys. Yeah, the couple bucks that's put in my pocket from selling a disc is cool.... ...but what REALLY fuels Orationem is the time you guys take to actually listen to it, and then the time you guys take to post here that you actually LIKE it. That makes me want to do 150 QUALITY Orationem albums. I really, REALLY appreciate the feedback. 149 Orationem albums to go, eh?

Yeah i seen the website other times/days before i wrote that, I'm just giving some demand for a cassette release with cover art heh. Otherwise if i did get that original CD i would make a cover artwork. I'm listening man - and I just took some action regarding this. I reached out to Skogen today via e-mail. He's the one that did the first 4 Ankou Awaits cassette presses through Wulfrune Worxxx. (James, you picked up Wyllt and Oberour Ar Maro - so Orationem would be that "underground quality" of a release) I'm confident he'd dig the music. ...but I have no idea what sort of reaction he'll have to Orationem's lyrics. We've never talked about this sort of thing, but I was completely up front about it being a Christian release. Some guys in the scene are cool about it. Some flip the eff out. I have no idea which one he'll be. Worst case scenario, he tells me to eff off, insults me and then goes online and volunteers that that Ankou Awaits guy is a "damn churchy", which isn't exactly a lie. Its not like that would hurt Ankou Awaits sales - I'm certain most of the secular scene would rather steal/pirate the albums anyway. Best case scenario, he doesn't care that Orationem is Christian project/release, and then I'll have a cassette version of the Orationem debut available for you... or anyone else that wants one for that matter.

I have a gut feeling he won't reply at all, but you never know. I'll keep everyone posted.
James, I thought I saw a cassette post you made earlier? I'm not sure what happened to the thread? I was going to reply to it after supper...
Anyway, the way I look at it is this. I'd rather have cassettes if someone wants them, then not have them and someone wants them. I understand the "mystique" behind obscure DIY tape-only releases... but I'm willing to sacrifice something that doesn't truly hurt the music for an additional physical option.
It's still interesting from a psychological standpoint that a cassette only release would have a better presentation than having a cassette AND CD option. I would think the fact there's a CD could just be ignored if a cassette only mystique was wanted?
Personally, I think cassettes are more of a cool sounding novelty than, obviously, the best sounding or compatible option.
If anything, CDs are pure convenience. If I could "burn" and label a cassette from my laptop in 5 minutes and putting together a CD-R took 50 awkward minutes at a tape desk, I'd certainly be starting with cassettes!! Haha!

Whoa - I heard back from Skogen.
Regarding Orationem or Christian black metal in general, he doesn't want to release anything that's Christian in origin. He doesn't have a problem with Christianity, he said "its because the concepts don't match. Christian black metal is like having a hybrid Ferrari." - so he passed on releasing it.
He said that we was already well aware that I was a Christian and of my previous releases. (he specifically mentioned GRIM) He meantioned reading Ankou Awaits lyrics closely to make sure they weren't "unmatching in concept" before he contacted me about wanting to release them.
He wished me well and said he'd be happy to release anything else I did that wasn't Christian in origin.
I might try to figure out here how to do cassettes on my own with his template actually... I just need to set aside some time to do that though...

Hi Duane, I'm checking through my e-mails and I have the correspondences in the Orationem account in June, and I also have an e-mail in my Ankou Awaits from August that states you got my two new releases in stock and they're awesome. That's the only e-mails I have. (I regularly check spam. You're in my address book so something would be very wrong with my outlook if it went to junk) Did you send another e-mail? Or did I mis-interpret the e-mail in August? Regarding wanting to carry everything, I've got a lot of releases bro. HAHA!! EDIT: I also sent you a new e-mail.
