I'm sure most of the forum is aware of my grandmother's passing. Today, I got a few of her keepsakes, one of which was her "display bible". (as both her living room and bedroom bibles were falling apart from being read so much.) In my opinion, its the ultimate memento of my grandmother. Sorry the picture quality isn't the best for these photos. Here's the front cover of this bible. Here's the edge. As you can see, its a little worn, but the cover is not falling off or even the slightest bit torn. Its a little hard to see how large this bible is from the above two pictures, but as you can see with this one - its a solid 3" thick. This Bible is actually loaded with pictures. Here's the opening/title page(s). I bet you're wondering how old this Bible is! The page after the above picture has the preface, and the date it was made. 1970. Here's a screenshot of some the typical printing. Here's a good example of some of the artwork. Here's another picture. Nice depiction of the last supper! This Bible is not written in. I did find some very interesting bookmarks though. Dried 4 leaf clovers. There were probably 20 of these stuffed throughout various chapters! (I left them where they were marked.) I can only imagine that this thing is probably worth some money to collectors, but the sentimental value to me is beyond what money has to offer. I'm going to place this book on the wooden display it was sitting on, (which was also inherited) on a special stand in my foyer. What do you guys think? Do you have you're own really awesome Bible?

That is very awesome! Looks like a beautiful Bible. My favorite Bible is also one that used to be my grandmother's. It's a plain, leather-bound old KJV Bible. My grandmother gave it to me when I was a kid (it was my very first Bible). As I grew up I strayed from God and somehow that old Bible ended up back in my grandmother's possession and she used it as her main Bible. I had forgotten all about it until right after she died. I didn't realize she had kept that Bible but my mom handed it to me and said, "Here, I think your grandmother would've wanted you to have this." I must admit, it was one of the most heartbreaking moments in my life (because I wasn't there for my grandmother like I should have been, was too busy being an alcoholic, yet she kept that Bible all those years). If I smell the pages as I flip through them I can still smell my grandmother's house. I think I have a picture on my Facebook in a private photo album... let me grab it... Sorry for the censor bars, I'm a pretty laid back guy but still don't like my full name on the internet. 11/19/1987 was also the day I got saved. I didn't remember the date until I saw the inside of that Bible again.

Not that cool that youguys seem to have, thats for sure! My friend has this replica of really old finnish Bible, first made in the time when Finland was under the swedish rule so it is dedicated to the queen of Sweden or something Hard to read that kinda text though. My parents have this old family Bible, that is also thick as a really thick thing and has all the Gustav Dore stuff and I guess also includes the apocryphas, to a certain extent. The coolest Bible I have got is a New Testament I got from Victor Griffin of Place of Skulls when I ordered few of his CD's. It has this really good guide to new christians and also has some poems and famous quotes thrown within the pages.

That's a really nice book. I remember my grandmother having a really nice "coffee table" Bible that was really nice. No idea what became of it after she passed though. Glad you have the keepsake!

(obviously - look at my login here) Then again, I've probably been scammed way more than you.
