Any recommendations? This is a genre that I've been wanting to get more into but I don't really know where to go.
I'm extra picky about lyrics here even compared to black metal. I want lyrics that I can connect with in some sort of way, so anything that glorifies drugs or gang violence is instantly a no for me.
I've found a couple bands that I really like, and here are some cool songs from them:
Kimmo, if I recall correctly, you like a lot of hardcore. Please give me recommendations if you can!

Are those normal song lengths?
I like the elements of this, but its just makes me crave thrashy guitar riffs or wishes it would take full blast flight.
I think this is more hardcore than hardcore punk, but my vote would be this Christian album. I listened to it so much growing up.

Yeah, those song lengths are normal. I wasn't aware that hardcore and hardcore punk are two different things. I thought the former was an abbreviation of the latter.

No Innocent Victim is one of the best christian hardcore bands hands down. Flesh and blood is a great album and made a huge difference in me and I guess in some way made me start my first christian band. There are bunch of old bands that I dig, like Focused, but I am not sure if theyre so easy to get into as NIV, though you can always try if that stuff is your cup of tea. As for modern stuff I could recommend some stuff from my Bandcamp: jaccusehc.bandcamp.com/album/jaccusekillinggoliath.bandcamp.com/album/burning-bridgesrevealrenew.bandcamp.com/album/phrases-for-the-livingsiervos.bandcamp.com/album/songs-of-praise-and-truthontheattackrecords.bandcamp.com/album/be-the-changePersonally, as far as lyrics go, I am quite the opposite. While I often tend shy away from profanity that some secular punk bands use, I do like some of the bands that are against christianity if they have valid points and if its not ignorant blasphemous stuff (again, the way I view it might change from someone else). However, those bands whose links I posted there are christian, though I am not 100 % certain what Reveal renew would label themselves, but as I have understood theyre christians anyway.

I remembered that this band was is also pretty good: www.facebook.com/socialsuicideofficial/www.youtube.com/channel/UC7Zn9Zb1Jb5b4clx8jWGVsgTheyre from Norway and have two cd's out. They remind me of their countrymen Selfmindead that were on Solidstate records, but I like this band more cos they have more variety in their music. If you want to get their cd's I saw one of them at Nordic Mission, but personally I got the second cd from the band so you might want to contact them via Facebook. These guys also have some project bands that are not necessarily christian, but at least Fight! had some good social commentary lyrics and even one song that seemed very christian to me.

My favorite in the genre is early Crucified. Sadly, I don't have much of this genre in my collection. I'll need to remedy that.

Yeah Hardcore Punk was my first love, but other favorites are Crust, Black Metal, Death Metal, Grindcore, and Hardcore. Most of the examples above are actually old school Hardcore or Metallic Hardcore which sound evolved from Punk. Oldschool Punk was just called Hardcore back in the day, and then first bands started adding Thrash riffing to hardcore Punk making Thrash Punk or Crossover, later Hardcore changed and lost a little of the fast power chord Punk influence as it got slightly slower and heavier, riffs became chuggier and then breakdowns became prominent, then more incorporated Metal into it becoming Metallic hardcore and now finally Metalcore.

If you havent really got into Punk, or all sub-genres; Hardcore Punk, Crust Punk, Old School Punk, Street Punk, Thrash Punk or Celtic Punk/Oi, and being this is a Black Metal Forum i'll recommend some good bands. Id highly suggest Chaos Christ "Ashes Of Babylon", one of my favorite bands and also a Free download at SBBR Bandcamp chaoschrist-sbbr.bandcamp.com/ This style is called Crust Punk, its a mix of Hardcore Punk with Thrash/Black Metal influence, a lot of the first old school Black metal bands were Crust/Black. Another of my favorites is World Against World "Until the Day Breaks And the Shadows Flee Away" Blackened Crust Punk with vocals more on the Hardcore Punk side. And of course Black Leather/Diamoth is probably one of the most known Black/Crust bands or Black'n'Roll. Below is a list of Christian Crust bands or have Crust influence... Crust Bands The American Culture eXperiments Anti-World System Black Leather The Blamed Chaos Christ Chasm Constant Fear The Crucified Desertor Diamoth Die Daily Dry-Rot Grace And Thieves The Hoax Officer Negative Platoon 1107 Preacher The Right Wing Conspiracy Rise Into Ruin Saul Of Tarsus Scum Of The Earth Sidetracked Slaves BC Sulphur Grace Veranderung World Against World

I'm honestly not all that interested in crust, despite the fact that it does have quite a bit of metal influence. Black metal and punk just don't combine well in my mind.
I'm basically looking for stuff that sounds as similar to the two videos that I embedded in the original post.

Nice, thanks dude. That's quite a list there. I've heard of a few of those but definitely not all of them. I'll check those out.
I tried to dig into the straight edge scene a little bit to see if there was much stuff to find, because I figured that Christianity would have a fairly strong presence there, but that doesn't really seem to be the case...lots of negativity from some of those bands. I know that Youth of Today tried to begin the whole positivity thing with Youth Crew, but Christianity still seems to be largely absent outside of bands like xLooking Forwardx.

Yeah Crimson Warrior, you'd like the band Diehard Youth cd "All For One, One For All" was Christian then they went less biblical lyrics on newer cds, now that scene is called Posi-Core, theres a bunch of bands like them, Christian members but band isnt, With Honor and Casey Jones are others thatre good.
