Despite liking the genre, I never really got into darkwave too much so I can't recommend anything. Maybe another member here (or guest) could recommend something. I'm sure there's a band like that somewhere in the scene.

Also check out the latest ep "Sin Cuerdas". It has been released by an awesome little label named No Sleep Till Megiddo Records. .... -------------------------------------- Listening to the first Volbeat album right now.

Only know two albums. Don't listen to them very often, but this 'Metallica meets Elvis'-style is entertaining from my point of view. Quite theatrical of course (in terms of this rocknroll-outlaw-Cadillac-attitude), but they know how to write good songs and how to mix very different influences, that's for sure. -----------------
Listening to: Alter Bridge-One Day Remains

Volbeat always felt a little too poppy for me.
Alter Bridge! I used to love that band. I could never really get into their softer songs (which seemed to be most of what they wrote), but there were a couple songs on each album that I absolutely fell in love with. Metalingus is a masterpiece.
Now listening to: GRIM - Scepter of Blood

Forgotten Sorrow - Silencioso como el llanto de la lluvia
Christian DSBM.
Edit: Yikes, some of the vocals in "Hypoxia" are... jarring.

I listened through some In Depths of Dreams Unconscious to get prepared for Divine Darkness. Man, I forgot how good that EP is. I also somehow realized for the first time that the last track, Alone in Silence, is the same song that was way back on the Glorification demo.

I listened to Antestor - Omen in its entirety though split into segments peppered throughout the day. It isn't as good as The Forsaken but it definitely has more than a couple magical moments.

A few albums I've been cycling through on my drives to and from work (it's about an hour each way):
Baroness - Purple White Lighter - White Lighter Kylesa - Exhausting Fire Believer - Dimensions Dream Theater - Images and Words My Silent Wake - A Garland of Tears Pelican - Forever Becoming Vardoger - Ghost Notes
So yeah, mostly metal.

^I was just cranking that Vardoger yesterday! So good. Absolutely spectacular. Earlier today I listened through Vials Of Wrath's latest too which is right alongside Ghost Notes for #1 for 2015 for me.
I just got finished listening to the new Crimson Moonlight for the first time. Wow, it's really solid!!! I don't understand why so many folks have been so critical of it; I think it's great. I'm looking forward to digging into it deeper.

I'm looking forward to digging into it deeper. I'm glad you and others like it though. I wish I did - I really wanted to fall in love with it. A few guys on the Nordic Fest forum thought there were a few good tracks but the rest felt like "filler". ...sadly, I share their sentiment.

^Yeah that seems to be the general consensus. As I posted in CMR, so far I think I'm actually enjoying it MORE than their previous material! (Which, I know is probably pretty akin to heresy around these parts but hopefully I won't get burned at the stake for saying it... )

(Which, I know is probably pretty akin to heresy around these parts but hopefully I won't get burned at the stake for saying it... ) Ah no way man. It makes me really happy that you enjoy it so much. I wish it (and other Christian black metal) was the best music I've heard. Heck, I wish that I liked country music more. My wife and I aren't at ends about each other's music, and its tolerance bordering on liking some parts - but if we had a passion about each other's music, I think we'd get those last few inches closer.

Most country is the same thing as metal at this point anyway, or at least hard rock. I'm sure there's common ground to be found. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc There's also more "normal" country that I can just somehow see metalheads liking. 1, 2

The country music I like best is in a minor key. There's a few songs from groups my wife likes that fit the bill.

To join in on the CM bandwagon... I think it's pretty good! Though my complaint is that I'm pretty sure most of it is the same tempo and key... there are very few parts of the album that stray from the blast beat/rock beat/short interlude/back to blast beat thing. I would've liked a little more variety I guess, but it's definitely the most intense album I've heard in a long time.
So, albums I'very been playing lately: Crimson Moonlight - Divine Darkness Hope for the Dying - Legacy (Awesome!) mewithoutyou - Pale Horses Anneke van Giersbergen & Árstíðir - Verloren Verleden For All Eternity - Metanoia (meh)

FINALLY got to listen to Dream Theater's new album, The Astonishing.
I like it. It's tight, it's clean, it's technical, even crazy at times, but it's everything I've come to expect from Dream Theater.
I do kind of agree with Anthony Fantano's opinion (theneedledrop on Youtube): it kinda sounds too polished, and there's very little room for grit. But I like it.
